FINALLY my new decks

Ended up trashing the Serato idea as taking my turntables to the UK would be too heavy...
So I got me some CD decks instead
Here's the setup as it stands:

There is no pic, but GAY anyway.

2 reasons:

1. Vinyl is the nicest mixing medium - there is physical contact, you physically manipulate it, all by yourself, it is tangible. You can look at the record and see the breaks coming up etc etc. Miles better than CD/mp3.

2. If you are going to go digital, then why CD? CD's are dead, mp3 is where it's at. If I ever get anymore decks/mixing equipment it won't have CD at all.

Forgot to mention that I still own vinyl turntables and the "CD decks" are mp3 capable which means about 100 songs per CD. 2 Cds will let me mix for hours on end

What I don't understand is people who get serato or the likes with cd decks... The only thing it does in that situation is lets you choose the songs from your computer instead of burning onto cds, and lets you press the synch button to avoid having to actually do anything (beatmatching)
Then people produce decent mixes with no skill whatsoever. Does my head in...

Vinyl is a better medium for a "true" dj but cd decks are a far better investment in my opinion. I have 1000's of £££'s worth of vinyl in storage as I went the cd/laptop/mp3 route.

I got pissed off spending £7-£20 on one track in the end and with the decks I use them in vinyl mode anyway.

2 usb cables into my laptop and drag and drop tracks straight onto each deck job done.

As for beatmatching via computer or beat counter etc, whats the point in that, dont waste your money and buy a cd.

Real "dj's" all produce otherwise your just like me a guy in a house with his mates/missus living the dream.

I dont think theres anything wrong with cd decks, keep up with the times. Save some cash do the same thing, no brainer really.

I'm referring to the guys on youtube who "dj" when they press the synch button and switch the crossfader over... Pathetic.
Even if I could do that I wouldn't cause there's no fun in it... Kind of like an automatic car or scooter...

Belt drive Numarks = shit
1210s are the only way to go.

Stanton CDJs = shit. The mechanisms are wank from what I've heard.
Pioneer or Denons are again, the only way to go.

The Numarks are direct drive mind you.
And the stantons are not bad considering they cost about half of what pioneer costs, and have more features. Build quality is not as good obviously but for a bedroom dj are more than enough.
My original plan was to replace the numarks with technics and get serato scratch live, but as said, it's too cumbersome to take to the UK. Maybe in a year I'll decide I want technics and I'll buy some... (quite likely if I get a good mixer to support it all)

Got pioneer 400's love them and do everything I need/want, I cant scratch, unless its my balls , would sound gash with the music I listen too.

I learnt to mix on belt drives only way to go as you constantly had to keep f3cking with them to keep them in time! Was brilliant when you got them going for a few minutes to grab a mouthful of beer lol.

I know what your saying mate, just cheating themselves they might as well just play with the volume on a mixed cd and pass it off and themselves
