Well, I finally got myself a dog this morning. Meet my 8 week old Border Collie Ninja...

He's really inquisitive, pretty damn chunky, really friendly and gorgeous. I can't take him out yet as the vet can't innoculate him 'til Tuesday. Bought him from a farm, so I'm sure he'll keep me busy on walkies as mummy and daddy were both working sheep dogs.

I was looking for a black and white dog not a tri (as the Bordie Collie I grew up with was B&W), but as soon as i saw him I knew he was the one.

Nor my responsibility. The house is a fairly new build, so the garden is WIP.

How many curries could you make out of one of these? (Fully grown of course).
I've heard collies make good eating.

With a Collie you're getting the R6 of the dog world. Loads about but they go like shit offa shovel, and extremely nimble.
They repay your effort tenfold, but if not handled properly they bite back.

Pat
Looks a lovely little chap

He's fantastic, love him to bits already. I really can't wait to get him in the fields where he belongs. At the moment he follows me around so well, and comes over straight away with just one tap on my leg.

He's fascinated by anything he can put his teeth into at the moment, especially electrical wires/cables which is worrying. I've just taken him around my nan's where he performed his first pee on the carpet.

I have read that Collies aren't the best to have around kids (I have none), as they like to herd them as if they are sheep, but my parents already had a Collie when I was born and he was fantastic with me.

He'll be my shadow for a good few years yet. He's coming to work with me everyday, so won't be left alone in the house all day. Collies do need constant work/play. There's a great big park right next to my work for lunchtime walkies too.

He loves that toy. My uncle owns two pet shops, and that was the very first toy he picked out for me.

Oh, and woe betide anybody that wishes to make Ninja curry Laughing .

He'll herd anything that moves. Smile They're OK with kids if you are there to keep an eye on him. I don't leave mine unsupervised with kids ever as Collies can be snappy.

Great dogs, and if he is already that size at 8 week old, he is going to be a chunky bugger.

Ooooooo, puppy.......... Dance!

Looks just lovely and I'm sure he'll be helping lots with the gardening anyway, so probably just as well it's not immaculate, as you'd be crying!!

Hours of fun and a best mate too - perfect!! Mr. Green

Laughing , I know what you mean, the last one was batshit crazy, but fun and loving all the same.

Ninja was in a barn until today, so he's managed to wear himself out on his first day on 'the outside' and is FAST asleep. He's met plenty of new people and has gone bounding up to everyone and enjoyed the fuss and attention. I definitely got me a good 'un Mr. Green .
