Oxtar (Now TTX are great). Had a low speed off in my Oxtars and they stood up well. Well enough that I still wear them. Wink

Had a pair of Sidis a few years ago, and they were good too.

My SIDI's are comfy enough to wear all day and not notice, they have done a good job at falling apart with all the plastic bits, I would still trust them in an off though, infact they have saved my ankle once already.

Despite them slowly falling apart I will still be buying another pair for my next boots so make what you will of this post Laughing

Just replaced my A* SMX-4 with some Arlen Ness boots.

https://www.hein-gericke.co.uk/shop/images/Ross/arlenness1096500.jpg

Look teh sex but very stiff and need breaking in. Cool

Whilst I was in Hein Gericke trying boots on, I tried the A* SMX-Plus boots. They were very 'plush' and what I would call comfy but lack of water proofness stopped my from buying them.

Depends if you commute or not, do you want wet feet/socks sitting in the office all day?

I just got a pair of bog standard £70 weise boots that I bought when I had the RS125. Need a pair of Sidi's me thinks. Are they the better boots to get as everyone seems to go on about them?

I have a pair of the boots on the right, lasted me a year of every-day, all weather riding and two slow speed offs.

Only problem is the scratches from the offs and that's it.

Recommended for the price. Thumbs Up

nah i wear crappy old waterproof boots in the rain. these will be just for summer.
i've just seen that SIDI have a new pair out called Vortice, but they are like £250!
anyone know if they are worth the money?
or are they just like any other boots, just with alot of plastic bits?

i'm liking the A* SMX-5's, they look quite good and are only £140.
but if the SIDI's are going to be better then i might save up for them.

I find my A* Supertech R's fantastic, very comfy and with an inner boot to it. Only downer is waterproof is out of the window but hey ho. Sidi's I hear are good had them recommended to me.
I looked at a pair of the Arlen Ness mainly to be a tart to match the suit lol, but speaking to the lass in the shop totally put me off. Her feedback was they've had the stock in for 6 months and they havnt shifted much at all, any they have got rid of have had tosh feedback. Shame as they look the bollox IMO.

the MOST uncomfy boots around have to be the Frank Thomas SP Tech boots. The design is awful, they kill your feet after walking 100meters.
I think i will probably save up and buy some SIDI vortice boots. everyone who has ever had a pair of SIDI's seems to recommend them so they must be good.

I bought the SIDI Vertigo and have found them to be a great dry weather boot. Only comfort issue I've had was making sure my socks were long enough, else they rub at the top! Rolling Eyes

They are Buffalo Blytz I believe, I picked them up from a local bike shop. I think they are like £70, quite budget!

I wear them all day at College usually, no issue at all, comfy as larry and can wear normal socks as they don't rub at all.

Pure brilliance. Thumbs Up

Ive got a pair of Sidi Vertigo Corsa's. I paid top dollar for them when they first came out. Within about 4k miles they had snapped one of the locking mechanisms, the pins that hold the clasps together on both botts had started to fall out (they are pushed back in on a regular basis) and the zips had snapped on both. Thing is that I would trust them totally in an off (or more importantly I had my biggest off in them and they were fine). Other niggles are the 'air vents' which normally choose their own position (i.e open) and stay there because they are so loose. Although they look very good I would'nt buy another pair, the shiny bits are for show and break easy, good boot apart from those bits though.

Beofre that I had a second hand pair of sidi Vertebrae's and they were awesome, comfortable and hard wearing. Shame they went so tarty and superficial Confused

I got a pair of Gore-Tex lined Puma boots on Sale for £40 at Hein
Gericke back in January, for commuting. Wore and, walked about all
day in them - Very comfy.

Still in one piece and kept my feet warm and dry through the winter
and spring. Summer is too warm for them, though, so I'll get them
back on in the Autumn.

It probably depends which of the Puma range you get. I think mine were a steal.

I`ve had mine for about 3 months so here`s what i know:
1,Extremely comfy both on and off the bike with virtually no break in time needed. They squeak and creak really badly though so if you walk a lot and get embarrased by people staring at you, dont buy them.

2,Serious protection all round and they lock you in like no other boot does. You know for sure nothing`s gonna happen to your feet/ankles/shins if you happen to have a spill in these.

3, they look the mutts nutts.

4, Excellent in the wet and the air holes are great when it`s roasting.Gives a massive blast of air from the sides and straight through the front with the vents open.

5,good soles and overall a top quality piece of kit.Deffo worth the money if you got it to spend.

There is however one major downside to these boots and that`s the hassle of putting them on and taking them off if you ride/commute everyday like me.It takes a lot longer than most other boots do and it becomes a royal pain in the ass.I wouldn`t reccomend them as an everyday commute boot.

Best all-round boots i`ve had so far were the oxtar tcs evo rx.The anti slip sole didnt last though and the zip pulls broke within 2 years.

sounds like SIDI's are pretty good then..
Quote:

haha, yeah a mate of mine wore his dads SIDI vertigo boots one day and they were clicking at the back.
i dont mind abit of clicking though.

i think ill save up for a pair, and if they break or anything.. ill probably cry at losing £250! Laughing

it sounds like on the whole they are great, but there are a few bits that can sometimes fail, like the plastic bits.
if they fail i will just superglue them probably. Thumbs Up
