Senairo

I have just sold my motorbike on ebay to an 100% member....nothing to confusing there.

The purchaser came today and paid cash....still all good.

The male was polish and stated he did not have an address in this country and was returning to Poland with the bike....starting to ring alarm bells!

Rather than fill in and keep section 1-8 of the V5 myself he told me that he required this for the registration authorities in his country.

He then filled in section 11 and told me to send this off so that DVLA would be notified that the bike was going abroad.

I then wrote out and got from him a signed reciept for the bike transaction.

Please could someone tell me if what I have done is correct????

My gut feeling is no and that I have made a big mistake selling it to him this way!

My Sunday morning has been ruined worrying about it!

Any advice would be greatly apprieciated.

Sounds legit to me mate.
Theres a big industry in foreign countries mainly Poland. Buying second hand bikes and shipping them to Poland and selling them on to make a profit.
Its because our 2nd hand bikes are alot cheaper than those in other countries.
Probably find the guy owns a dealership and does it on a regular basis.
You got cash anyways so even if it wasnt legit who cares?

I think that you/he have done the documentation correctly. I would expect you to get a letter from the DVLA within a few weeks telling you that they have received the slip that you are should be about to send off and that their records have been updated and that you are longer responsible for the bike. Thumbs Up

This is certainly a big industry now, I've seen cars with Polish plates towing trailers full of bikes.

Just make sure you get your confirmation letter from DVLA within 4 weeks... if not, give them a call and make sure their record is up to date.
