Hi.

Does anyone know if there's anything that I can do to fix my broken hugger.

It's snapped around 1 bolt.

This is what it looks like.

Pink = plastic.

The red circle is the bolt.

I should've chosen more contrasting colours.

I'm thinking some sort of bodge with a drill and some cable ties?

Any ideas?

You could weld it together with a soldering iron or drill a few holes and cable tie it together.

Take it off and use fiberglass to repair it on the underside, you can use a thin strip of metal with a hole drilled on it for strength, just match the hole over the bolt mount then use the fiberglass and resin to bond all 3 pieces together. Then touch up with paint. You could use araldite, but i would use fiberglass and resin as this would spread the stress from the repair area and reduce any further stresses there. Shocked Simples

If it is a clean break, buy some Araldite glue, it is strong stuff, so be careful, get it right, you will hardly notice it, I fixed my bandit 600 front mudguard with this, a good result too.

Take it off. They look better without them anyway.

hi guys.

Just to give you an update, I cannot glue the hugger as the broken part is not there.

I have done a much better paint diagram to help show what I have to work with.

https://i14.photobucket.com/albums/a324/david_m213/hugger-1.jpg

Red = Hugger
Blue = Swingarm
purple = point where it's to be attached.

The plastic has been sheared off in an arch shape that mirrors the point where the hugger was originally attached.

Any ideas to fix the hugger to the point would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks guys.

Hi
My original idea will work you just have to make the part yourself, use either a piece of metal or a piece of plastic from the side of a bucket or paint container with a thin piece of metal for strength then just use a bit of tape or glue to line things up, and drill the hole to the right size, then fiberglass and resin on the undersidde of the hugger to fix together, paint and mount hugger. I made a fender extender with side of a black bucket, i just cut it out heated it to shape and drilled to small holes and mounted it on my front mudguard and it works a treat.

Do this up until the fibre glassing part, then just use Araldite or superglue to secure it in place permanently.

You could rivet a piece of aluminium over it and bolt it to the swing arm.

Exactly what I was going to suggest. A bit of black paint and you would never notice it.
