I'm currently experimenting with lots of sandwich fillings (I live in the country, there's nothing to do), some with greater success than others, I'll post up how things are going as I go.
All fillings are mixes of the first two things that I find in the kitchen.
Post your favorite fillings, or odd ones you've tried.
Just tried Nutella and Cucumber, which was surprisingly nice, now I'm having a good old Peanut Butter and Jam. ____________________ Don't practice it until you get it right, practice it until you don't get it wrong.

Yet to find anything that beats the humble ham, cheese and pickle.
Although, becoming very fond of chicken caesar lately, expensive sandwich to make though

My mum's kitchen is as bare as old mother hubbards, so my sandwiches are often creative.
Last week it was pickle, gaucamole dip and cheddar. Not so unusual, but I got lucky.
Any sandwich, to be properly appreciated, needs to use wholegrain/multigrain bread. I hate cussy funts who insist on white bread with no salad of any description. What happens after the bread is your decision, but white bread is not a sandwich, it is food suspended by 2 transparent, flavourless trays, meant for nothing more than to be toasted, ground up with cayenne and paprika, and sprinkled over chicken. ____________________ Current Bikes: Husqvarna Svartpilen 401 (2020)

From then on, I and the bicycle feelings deeper. |

Egg and bacon, white bread, brown sauce.
And just to counteract the amount of gay salad in this thread, chip butties. White bread, red sauce. ____________________ Chances are quite high you are not in my Monkeysphere, and I don't care about you. Don't take it personally.

Chip butties are very good. However, I think your method of preparation is slightly lacking.
You need to put plenty of butter on the bread first, then the chips, then salt and vinegar, then brown sauce.
Only sandwich I have butter in is the chip butty. And ones including vegemite.
Generally, butter in sandwiches is wrong, wrong, wrong. Some of my favourite sarnies are (with ingredients working from the bottom up):
- Mayo, salad, ham, english mustard/tabasco sauce
- Cheese, cucumber
- Tuna mayonaise, pepper, cucumber
- Ham, cheese, pickle
- Sausage, raw onion, tobasco sauce
I also love cheese and tuna and cheese and ham toasties.
As for the bread type, I'm not bothered really if it is white, I like white bread, although I never buy sliced bread. Granary bread is also very good.
As an aside, we had a sandwich making competition at work once, where most people brought in sandwiches made with cheapo sliced white bread. Wtf? By volume bread is the largest component in a sandwich, using shit quality bread means you're off to a bad start. |

Tuna, cheese and tomato ketchup.

Well this thread took off
I have a hard time with meat sandwiches, living in a veggie household, but the all day breakfast slice from tescos cannot be beaten when you've worked up a good and proper appetite, it's fecking huge, tasty, and filling.
My dad is the leader of the pack in obscure sandwiches for the sakes of it, for example last time I was there, mash potato and hundreds and thousands sandwich, he ate 4 slices of it ____________________ Don't practice it until you get it right, practice it until you don't get it wrong.

Cheese (pref. strong cheddar or Wenslydale) + raw sliced onion
Tuna + raw sliced onion
Cottage cheese with pineapple + raw sliced onion
...there's a theme developing here
Alltime favourite though is...
Hot beef steak (with onion, salad leaves, baby tomatoes, ground pepper) served on warm chiabatta bread.

Chorizo and mature cheddar toasty. Sooo bad for you, the amount of yellow and orange fat that runs out is disturbing, but disturbingly tasty too .
Leftovers are good too, anything is good between 2 slices of toast. Few of my recent leftover lunches:
Risotto
Linguine
Spagbol
Cheesy pasta/macaroni cheese

Granary bread, one spread with mustard, one spread with tomato ketchup, the best sausages you can find, cut in half lengthways and fried. Also cook some caramelised onions to put on top of the sausages.
If you're extra hungry, put a fried egg in there to really finish it off.
Cheers

Not really a sandwich persay.
2 x Best, soft, white, awesome breadcakes (stotties/rolls, whatever the hell you strange people call them. NOT teacakes (ie raisins)
Tuna Mayo.......avec vinegar, salt and black pepper, and oregano.
Three different cheeses, 2x varieties of average cheddar, some dirty little double gloucestershire.
Toast the breadcakes until nice and golden brown, LATHER in Lurpack (Salted) butter until its melted, bang the tuna on, followed by a few dollops of Sweet Thai Chilli sauce. Place copious amounts of cheese on top, a few dabbles of sauce, and grill until slightly golden/crisp on top.
WIN. ____________________ "Oh....it looks like Average Joe's is forfeiting the match!" - "Yeah, its a risky strategy but lets see if it pays off for 'em Cotton." |

Best sandwich ever is;
Slice of bread,
Chicken burger,
Slice of bread,
Pre-cooked chicken bits,
Slice of bread,
Fried egg,
Slice of bread.
Add your own types of butter, bread and/or sauce. It's lush.
My favourite sandwich of all time and one i eat as often as possible is. An italian roll with a layer of cheese, a layer of chicken and bacon. Then lettuce, jalapenos, gherkins, red onions and mayonnaise.
I love it. ____________________ Current: Honda Nsr 125
