Musical Regression

Being an olde fahrte, I own a large number of CDs and I refuse to have my music collection stored on my PC (although I have an MP3 player and all my CDs are on there in MP3 format) as I prefer to have the originals.

WHat this does mean is that I have most of my old CDs and occasionally dig back through them. Most of the time I think 'What the hell was I thinking when I bought this?' but I've just stuck 'Therapy? - Troublegum' in the CD player and I'm instantly transported back to Uni and revising for my final exams.

Bloody cracking album, especially 'Nowhere'.

Just thought I'd bore you all with that

Inspired by this thread (and the fact that I've just moved house, so all my cds are in one place again!) I went to my collection and picked out a couple of older ones (i.e. ones at the bottom of one of the boxes) to see if I had them on my comp. Basically I've just spent the last couple of hours listening to

Midnight Vultures - Beck
Beautiful Freak - Eels
White Blood Cells - White Stripes

In short, an absolutely excelent selection of music from my end of secondary school collection!

I'm still at it today and I really have had some weird tastes in music over the years, I like anything where the songs have a story behind them or where the band sound like they're enjoying what they do. Today's selection is:

Presidents of The United States of America - Lump could have been written for one of my ex-girlfriends
The Levellers - One Way of Life - Drugged up pikey music for the masses
Stereophonics - Word Gets Around - back when they were good
The Darkness - Permission to Land - It was only when reading the lyrics to 'Holding My Own' did I realise it was about wanking
Offspring - Americana - Love the track 'Americana', especially the 'F*** you' in every chorus

Oh well, 8 CD's down, about 500 to go

I have stored all my CDs in huge zip up wallet things, because after years of moving, I found transporting CDs a bind. I don't have everything stored on my laptop, purely because I just don't trust the thing not to lose everything. I'd rather have a hard copy just in case.
