I was watching the Motown thing on BBC2 - but this show is certainly topical!

Since the Air Ambulance people have put a recycle bin to collect unwanted items, I refuse to give away my unwanted junk to any other cause.

The air ambluance, which is a chairty which in turn sickens me, is an amazing service, and does a stunning job.

fkin hate the bbc and their fkin propaganda shit. FUKKAS!!!!!

What i am annoyed about is the way it tells the general public that bikes are bad.

They way they had that mom of the muppet kid, who ran in front of the bike and got his face smashed up, come over and have her screaming and blubbering.
Perceived by the public as "Look what bikes do, they are terrible, look at the distress the bike has caused that family, its the bikes fault"

We are supposed to be in a country that prides its-self on saying that everyone is equal, and we are all the same and we all have the same rights, and we are all free. I get the feeling that Us Bikers are getting trodden on and singled out more and more as time goes on. It tinkles me off.

I am bloody fuming after watching that program, my missus even got a proper ear-full from me about it. Then she served me dinner very happy

I think you missed the point about that bit! It was clearly a sad scene, it wasn't as if they were trying to say it was the bike's fault.

If the BBC were trying to say it was the bike's fault then they wouldn't have left in the bit where the kid's mate said "he just ran in front of the bike" - clearly putting him at fault.

The general stupid public will only remember the crying mother, nothing else.

No matter how you put it, that was made with the underlying intent to change the viewers perception of bikers to a negative one.

in a country when everyone is supposed to be equal, the people with the power to enforce that principle are the ones abusing it and that makes them a bunch of cunts

I think the general public will be thinking 'what an idiot running out in the road' rather than the fact he got hit by a biker.

Overall the program was anti biker, it has to be, imagine the BBC doing a pro bike show and the complaints on POV!

Precisely why my company does sponsored events in order to raise cash for them. I ran the London 10k this month and shall do lots more if I can. Totally worthwhile charity. A lot of the London biker forum get sponsored on their behalf also.

Any program which showed the results of bike accidents would seem 'anti-bike'. Personally I didn't detect any particular bias, it was just that the accidents all involved motorbikes this time.

have u read anything else i have posted in this thread?

Phrases like "the bike carnage continues" and "bikes devestate lives" are the reason im angry.

I have a hard enough time from cagers who have a shitty opinion of bikers and pull out on me all the time without the fkin BBC making it worse.

I did notice there wasnt a single accident where a car was a fault, which is the main cause of crashes. Now that would have been a program showing equality etc etc

I didn't think the part with the young lad who got knocked down by the bike was anti-bike, it was discovered that he hadn't looked while he was crossing and hadn't seen the bike coming.

The show was highlighting the fact that victims of motorcycle crashes require specialist treatment, and that they are vulnerable to injury. Whether it was blatantly anti-bike, I wasn't so sure. It certainly didn't do anything to promote the activity though!

I think it's far too easy to blame "stupid cagers" for motorcyclists getting killed, when in reality we are probably just as guilty.

Think about the number of single vehicle crashes that we have. And how many of them blame oil, diesel etc. (it may have been there, but maybe if the rider was being a bit more carefully then they could've avoided it).

Also, just because a car driver pulls out in front of you isn't technically your fault, it does not mean that there is nothing that the rider could have done to avoid it. Rather than riding to their reactions, anticipating other road users and compensating for their mistakes is what's needed.

We are all human and everyone makes mistakes. If a "stupid cager" pulls out on me and I've seen it coming and I avoid them then no big deal. I just hope that when I make my next mistake that the other road user will do the same. There's no point in getting angry about it.

Car drivers will pull out on us. It comes with the territory. We accept the dangers. If a rider can't accept this then they should quit.

The program highlighted the dangers of motorcycling. There are a hell of a lot of riders who aren't doing everything they can to keep themselves safe and push it.

I know this because I am one of them. But I accept the dangers.

We are all looking for someone else to blame.

Just watched it and found it ok really. Sensationalism was kept to a minimum I thought. Especially when you think what media people can be like.
Air ambulances are our friends and do a great job.
It doesn't do any harm to be reminded occasionally of the consequences when things go wrong.

Yes but it was mainly crap. Karma

All the programme did was show how good the air ambulance is. Hopefully it'll remind some car drivers how vulnerable we are. Smile
