Just got pulled coming off the A3 at the Esher turnoff. Think it was a metallic blue Astra but I'm not sure 'cause they caught me off-guard.
I'd just stopped at the lights and was giving this woman to my left the evils (she'd just swapped into my lane right in front of me without indicating ). Anyway, I felt this tap on my right arm and heard "Excuse me mate", which shit me right up because I wasn't expecting it. Anyway, I looked round to a car that had pulled up right next to me and the passenger copper said, "You might want to watch your speed, we've got you on camera going over 90 [in a 50]... and your filtering..." then he sucked his teeth in a plumber about to rip me off kind of way. I must have looked shocked, and just said "sorry" like a little girl. Anyway, nothing happened. Then I said, "I've only just got it" (meaning the bike). He smiled at me and said "Nice lid" (Vale's face) and that was that.
I nodded thanks to them and they tailed me down the next bit of dual carriageway (doing 44 in a 40) for a few hundred metres and then they pulled off.
The funny thing was the passenger copper was really friendly and was dealing it in a "you were being a bit naughty but we all do it so don't worry" kind of way, but every time I looked at the driver he looked like I'd just pissed in his chips. I suppose trying to catch me for a while had wound him up
Anyway, though I should warn everyone who comes down the A3 to watch out. |

Aye guildford into london can be very fast have had similar dealings with unmarked cars out that way, same thing telling off.
I dont reckon they have camera systems that would be usefull in court... ____________________ [Current Bikes - GSXR-750 K5 & C90-97 ] [Previous Bikes: Runner 125, YBR 125, GS500, Bandit 600, Hornet 600, ZX6R-99, C90-99, R1-99, XT600E-04, GSXR-750 K4, CRF250L '16] |

Yeah, I've been riding into town on the A3 for three years and this is the first time I've ever been stopped. I can usually spot a police car a mile off (unless they're hiding of course) and amend my riding accordingly, but the thought of unmarked cars on that stretch is a bit worrying.
Oh well, I'll probably forget about it in a couple of weeks and everything will return to normal. |

I've been told that the police allow +10% for speedo innacuracy. Speed cameras go off at +10% (or even greater allowances). Whenever I spot a police car or bike, I always stick to that rule of thumb and have never been stopped yet. In fact, whenever I've tailed police vehicles I've always noticed they do it too.
So I would say going slower than you need to when it is safe to go slightly quicker, is retarded my friend. |

I forgot to mention that there was a car in front of me and a car in the outside lane also in front of me, that were also doing 44, so going any slower would have seemed like I was holding up traffic. I just decided to go with the flow, so to speak.
If you're flabbergasted by that, you must lead a very interesting life. |
