At the very least he would be in a prime position to tap a very large barrel of clunge-wine.

In my book, that really isn't a good thing. No after works drinks, they gossip all day about any old garbage, a complete distraction if they happen to be attractive.

What's the new companies business?

I guess it really depends on whether he is going to work more successfully as a big fish in a small pond or prefers to be a small fish in the big sea!

I would think that the fact that he's been doing fairly well in a large company would make this move quite a 'culture shock'. The Construction Industry, if the media are to be believed, is starting to move again and if his job is not under any obvious threat I think I would stay put.

15% is a sizeable pay rise in the present climate, but there is definitely more to consider than immediate gains - benefits, future promotions etc.

Also, working in an office full of women is a fate worse than death for anyone who values their sanity! Rolling Eyes

It is a dilemma indeed. I guess the ultimate question is what does he want to do in the end? Big co or SME?

Actually, scrap that for a moment. Is he qualified? If no he really should stay where he is IMO, if yes, then the first question becomes more relevant and I do a bigger post!
