On the A45 dual carriageway in Northamptopn at about 7AM on my way to work no other cars in sight.
I wasnt looking at my speed but must have been doing 70/80 all of a sudden i heard "Vrooooooooooooom"

A Moped overtook me, looked like one of them italiajet things with a huge guy riding.
Must have been doing at least a ton - ON A MOPED!
Back in the day when i had a moped i was lucky to get 28 downhill with the wind behind me.

Was it Red? I live about 2 mins away from the A45 and theres a HUGE amount of lads on mopeds around here. The fastest of them has one of those italjet things.

I've had that, admittedly i'm only on a YBR125 but i was redlining in every gear and some kid in trackies and a moped comes pooteling by next to me on the white lines inbetween traffic, god knows how!

Funnily enough I had 2 of these behind me last night.

They caught me up as I made my way past traffic even though we were doing 60ish, got past and when i was slowly accelerating they were still hanging on up to about 80. Once we got into a 30 limit they overtook me as I actually try and stick to 30 speed limits (well near enough 35ish).

Thing is just as they overtook me it went back into NSL so I went straight back past them at veryfast mph, you can't overtake a 12r on a scooter ffs!

At 17 and not having much of a clue that a geared bike was astronomically better then a moped, I decided to buy a 125 scoot. I always wanted a Italjet Formular 125 (a twin scooter) but they were pretty rare, so I ended up getting an Aprilia SR125 and with a few mods I got some strange looks over taking cars down the A3 at 70-80mph!

I can well believe this actually.

I've never tuned a moped so my knowledge of their capabilities comes from what I've heard on this forum mainly. This means that I know they can easily do over 70 with an exhaust whilst 125s can get well over 100mph derestricted.
