Hotel near Portsmouth ferry port?

Hi guys,

I've just booked my ferry from Portsmouth to Santander for my 1st ever Europe trip. I'm going to stay with some Spanish friends just outside Santander and use it as a base to discover the local area.

Bit nervous about doing the touring thing solo, but in for a penny in for a pound.

Now for my question. I'm booked on the 11:00am ferry, so am going to ride down to Portsmouth the day before (I'm coming from Leeds). Can anyone recommend a bike friendly place to stay the night before. Preferably close to the port if poss so I don't have a load of work to do before boarding.

PS - Does anyone know if the Carole Nash free European breakdown service is good enough, or is it worth purchasing separately?

I cant think of any tbh. However there must be some and I am sure there are B&B'S on or near the seafront in Southsea which is a kinda region of portsmouth although I think a Town in its own right.

I think that would be your best bet as they normally have gardens which you could park the bike on.

I did take a look for you but couldn't find anything advertised specifically for bikers. I did notice that the Holiday Inn says it has secure underground car parking and it's free for the first 24 hours, so if you're happy with that arrangement it'd be free for you Linky

Other than that the nearest bike ones are a few miles away - Bike Specific but I don't know of them to recommend.
