Car Exhaust/Bike can tech. question

Would like to do a little project. Looking to do a full stainless steel exhaust system on a performance car, with a motorbike race can on the end, can this be done? If so, what make of cans are recommended and what cans are best to be avoided?

cheers! is it possible though to literally go out and buy a yoshimura can for example and it fit onto a custom made car pipe?

I'm informed (from my mate, a car boffin type) that you can't go ahead and stick a bike can on a car, it just won't work. Those exhausts on cars that look like bike cans (eg TVRs) aren'y actually bike cans, they just look like them!

is there an issue with flow rate or something? Surely this must have been done somehwre by someone...?

Think it's more of a case that nobody has ever done it because to will not work...

lol robby!! its just an idea floating about at the minute, the exhaust came off the clio, so need something asap as it's draining my fuel and affecting performance. I'm after a full stainless steel system, just want something completey different that no-one has done before.

I'm aware this is a bike chat forum so apologies now for going a bit off-topic! Wouldnt mind your opinions/ideas/suggestions though for something that will look good and not boy-racer style!

Isn't this a brand new car, meaning the exhaust should be under warranty?

Just get a stock exhaust system for it, or go to your local kwik-fit/ATS if you can get pattern ones for it yet.

i would say, try it!, if you or one of your mates has got an old can lying around give it a go. whats the worse that could happen?

I would expect that putting a bike can on might have a fairly random effect, depending on the car and the can.

Stainless steel exhausts are easy to get for cars. I think that the place that does exhausts for TVR is in Macclesfield.

I've read somewhere that it isn't really advisable to do, due to putting back pressure on the engine or something. Don't really know what problems that would cause but it doesn't sound good.

Checked out the blue flame website, gonna find out if they can customise the tvr system they do, that'd look quite nice i think, a pair of motorbike 'looking' exhausts
