Leathers problem

Over the last few months my zip on my leathers has been ‘splitting’ when I’m doing up/un-doing the trousers to the jacket.

After a few e-mails to Alpinestars they have agreed to check them over and fix as necessary. Although this does involve sending the leathers to Italy for up to 15 days, which would leave me with only my winter gear.

Has anyone else had this problem?

I have had numerous zips go on bike gear. My kevlar jeans now have a button fly because of it, both the ones on my boots went.

A lot of the time cheap plastic zips are used when it really needs a really chunky heavy duty steel zip.

The thing is most of the time the zip is ok, but it does sometimes split when I'm zipping/un-zipping. Which makes me wonder about it's effectiveness in a crash?

That's the same problem I had with two pairs of SIDI boots. As I understood it the zip is not repairable (according to SIDI), only thing they could do it stitch on a new zip. If they are less than a year old they should replace them.
