Take them to the local tip, they should have battery disposal there.

I put them in the bin or put them on the bonfire.

Rechargeable ones tend to whizz out everywhere like empty shotgun shells. One smashed a window once.

Put my batteries in the front garden and wait for the pikeys to come collecting scrap(ussually takes a couple of days),they might be scum but they do come in handy now and again

As for oil to do it "legally" bottle it up and take it to the tip, there's a recent thread on here about oil somewhere

Hi

Used batteries are worth something for the lead, etc, in them. Hence why they will collect them. Get enough and you could probably sell them.

All the best

Scrappy will take them.

If you collected a ton or so, he'd pay you for them.

My local council tip has a bit where you can deposit old batteries and old engine oil.

Andy "takes them away" for me Laughing
I think he takes them to the scrappy from time to time.
He has a sort of scrappy corner ...

They sit in 'the pile' with the various bits of metal, used oil and other stuff that needs to go to the tip. Once there's enough / I can be arsed it all gets taken down there cos they've got sections to deal with almost everything these days.

We have this problem at racing, after a race weekend the awning usually has about 80 tyres to chuck away.

We just give them to someone and he burns them off on his farm, brilliant.

As for disposing of them otherwise, surely the local tip has somewhere.

Tyres can always be filled with petrol and burned while hanging over a gatso! chucking them in the canal is such a waste!

Exactly, 80 tyres could destroy 40 gatso cameras, a much better use for them!

I'm in the process of moving house at the moment, and during clearing out my garage, i've discovered about 5 car batteries.
I was going to chuck them in the skip, but read that they shouldn't be put in there either.
I shall now be giving the local pikeys a try, as we frequently get a rag-and-bone man up our street.

Thumbs Up
