Looks pretty normal to me... if it's got no signs of cracking or splitting/tearing then it's most likely fine. The valve seels on the otherside of the rim anyway - not the outside.

Hi

The valve is splitting. More obvious if you click on it to get the full size version. It would not take much longer to split through and for the tyre to go flat very rapidly.

Bike tyre's only if you ask.... And at the price i got hit with on my last tyre change..... £5 a valve..... You don't have to think why people don't bother....

Bet you could pull that off with your thumb and forefinger. The rubber seals on the other side, but the metal tube still has to be held into the rubber somehow. Not being held in by a hell of a lot in this case.

I once had a bike wheel that did that to EVERY valve you put in it. Had to be changed with each new tyre. Neither I nor the guy who fitted the tyres could work out why, there were no sharp edges and he was even fitting them with the proper pulling tool (which I have never seen used before).

If the hole in the wheel was slightly big, Then the valve would eventually work its way through.

Valves should be changed on every tyre change really. I've never really heard of a tyre firm who don't include a new valve in the price of the tyre.

Mine get changed everytime I get a tyre changed, free of charge, without having to ask...
