Picked it up yesterday. Not a bad little runner, needs quite a bit of tidying though, which I'm looking forward to getting stuck into doing in the coming months.

I'm not sure on the colour tbh, but it's better than expected. Bit like an old Subaru with a rich metallic.

Needs a lot of work doing before I get that far (or if I get that far with it) though.

It's in okay working order, engine is very smooth and pulls well despite its size. Not too tidy though, I've got a bit of work to do with this one.

I bought the bike as a replacement for both the 125 and 650 - going back to just 2 bikes now.

Thumbs Up

Very jealous. Was a pristine superfour near me for £950, would've easily paid that as I'm a slut for them, but I had just booked a holiday at the time.
Now I'm debating on a mechanically sound, but cosmetically challenged XJR400 1993 instead. (£850 local), and giving it a funktastic paintjob. You're obviously a fussy get as that looks plenty tidy. Laughing

Very Happy

Fussy - me?

Don't get me wrong - there's no major sign of rust or corrosion, but it does need a little tidying. Mechanically, it's pretty good, surprised how much the engine is even in comparison to my RR8 last year.

The suspension needs a refresh and I'm going to get a matching front tyre (Pirelli Supercorsas don't exactly match Dunlop GPR80s, especially in the wet). Brakes need a thorough going over too. But other than that, it's a bit of TLC to get things looking sparkly again.

Paid £650 for the little beasty and cost a mere £62.81 to insure. Not as much of a bargain as my £500 CB1 a couple of years ago, but not bad either.

The boot space is phenomenal - it'll hold about twice as much as my old Blade. Shocked

In the long term, I'd like to give it a bit of a retro cosmetic overhaul, once everything's sorted. I'm thinking maybe a homage to my old 78 400/4.

I take it he bought that front tyre as an ex-trackday scrub?

Or did you just give it a load of shit on the way home?

Craig, that's a really nice little bike. Thumbs Up Looks VERY tidy from the pics.

You getting rid of the ER6-F then? Did you just get bored with it? Confused

Cheers

I'm guessing the previous owner just stuck anything he could find on the front to get it through an MOT. He was an ex-forces guy with a back injury, so couldn't ride anymore - the rear Dunlop had 100mm wide strips on the back when I picked it up.

The Kawasaki is reluctantly going - my company's finally been hit be the credit crunch and some people are loosing their jobs. It's made me realise that I don't need two bikes worth over £4k together, when this little Honda will do both jobs (all round commuting work and tiny country lane exploring) for well under a grand.

Shame, but the honeymoon of constantly changing bikes is over. About time too I think, I can knuckle down and get some proper saving done for more important plans.
