Tuff maps. They are waterproof and fit in the tank bag nicely.

I have a Michelin, double sided fan-fold map of Scotland. 1cm to 4km scale. ISBN:978-2-06-712774-6. It folds as big or small as you want it. I chose it because it has a very good level of detail of the more minor roads.

They do one from the same series on "Great Britain", ISBN 978-2-06-712776-0. It's on thin, flimsy paper but folds down really small. About half the size of a CD case.

They cost less than £2 so it would be worth having one of each as backup if nothing else. I keep one in a zip-lock bag in my tankbag.

The big sheets are handy because you can plan a long route on them very easily.

EDIT: My girlfriend also bought one, cut it into sections the size of her tank bag and laminated them.

I would not recommend this map. Not enough detail and the ink has printed on to the other side of the page when it got damp.

That didn't make much sense.

Assuming that you meant:

"This is not a thread about which map not to get"

The OP can now avoid that particular map though. Rolling Eyes Doh!

It's also handy advice.

You really do have an attitude problem.

If you're going to insult me at least spell the insults properly. Oh and use capitals etc properly.

yeah cheers for that, but is not the thread about which map to get not which not to.....

I think advising people not get a map which is advertised as being 'the worlds strongest' and made by a popular motorcycle parts company is perfectly reasonable. It appeals to motorcyclists yet isn't that good. I have used a few times and while it does the job I'd imagine there are better ones outs there.
