Hi there,

i own a Suzuki GSX 400 Impulse, GK71E, 1988
For the Repalcement of the Fork Springs i wanted to open the Tubes, but there is no Screw...???

Does anybody know how to open, or knew a similiar Fork System??

There is at the top End of the inner Tubes, only a fastener like a Disc, or Stopper with
only 1 or 2 Millimeter less Diameter than the Tube???

Thanks for all Replies could help!!

Greetings

Sounds like a Circlip to me.....

Best bet is a proper pair of circlip pliers.

Might be able to do it with some thin nosed pliers or a screwdriver to prise it out (carefully)

No, it is no circlip iooi.

Its like a flat spacer, without hole..., sorry my English!

But it seems to be secured with a a spring Ring or something like this....???? Could be Turnable.

Seems that Suzuki construct a Special Fork for this Bike, she have 35mm Tubes...???

Does it have a bolt at the bottom of the stantion? You probably have to undo this and you may have to hold something inside the forks to hold it still. (Probably what the tool is for.)

It is often a plug with a small wire circlip.

Like this:

If this is the case, you need to press the plug down against the spring using a metal bar and prise the clip out with a fine screwdriver.

It is sometimes best to have two people. One to press down on the plug, the other to remove the circlip as there is a lot of tension on the spring.

Protect the tank with a cloth as the plug can fly in the air and chip the paint

Easiest with the fork leg in place on the bike and to do them one at a time.

I found a good way is to use a 2-leg puller hooked under the top yoke to compress the spring.

Yes, thats the way.....

seems to me, to be the same as on the BMW, because there is a Wire Circlip.

I'll try to remount it in this way this evening, but - only the clip is for Safe the Plug ???
Is this enough for the Tension of the Spring.

Never saw this System before!

Thanks!!!

Yes, the clip is all there is. The plug cannot come out with the clip in place, it is a tight fit in the groove and so acts like a solid piece of metal.

Remove the clip and the plug will come out, be ready to catch it!
