Is there something that can scan photo negatives and put them as photos on the PC?

My pal was a photography student and he had such a gizmo.

Not really very helpful I'm afraid as I have no idea what its called. I can however confirm that such a thing exists.

Thumbs Up

You can get tranny scanners (insert your own joke) ranging from about £100 into the thousands. I suspect the negative flipping's done in the software.

For starters...

https://www.firebox.com/product/2234/USB-Negative-Scanner

Jessops is the only photoshop (haha) that I can think of off the top of my head. Probably get one of eNay though...

Just Yahoo negative scanner. (Wouldn't it be weird if the results were for a scanner that made people who were smiling in photo's frown instead.)

No?

Oh well.

The cheap ones are supposed to be poo. Probably better of getting them developed and scanning the photos. Or is there hundreds of them?

EDIT/ But saying that... they were probably the comments of professionals that I read, so they're probably more than fine for home use. Smile

To be honest you're better off buying something like the Epson flatbed scanners than can scan negatives. Dedicated neg scanners are expensive (although quite fast and better optics) and the cheap ones are wank.

I use an Epson flatbed and have no complaints except that it can be a drag if you have loads to do! (Just done over 400 form a recent wedding Laughing)

I thought paint shop pro could do this?
You scan the negative in lossless and invert the colours, voila!

^ How much do Tesco charge per 24exp or 36exp film, usually they'd do along with processing. Do they do it from negs cut up into 6 frames? I'm guessing they'd usually scan them as a "bulk" roll before they slice them up. Also, what res are they done at?

Cost you a fortune to get a 36exp roll done (£15 per roll) at a half-decent resolution usually.
