Im not sure if anyone has already posted this, if so I'm sorry.

But anyways, its been confirmed that Schumacher will take over for Massa whilst he is recovering.

I personally am ecstatic!

Woah.

Wonder how he'll do? He's fit no doubting, but he won't be able to test and doesn't he still have a neck injury?

Will he ruin Button's chances by grabbing points, do you think?

Well aparantly hes been training everyday since his retirement but like you say he has neck & back injuries from the bike crash.

It looks like they're going to do some rigorous training and see if he's still up to the challenege.

I really cannot wait for his return! Should make for an awesome end of season Very Happy

Not a Schumacher fan at all but it will be very interesting to see him up against Hamilton and Button. Driving the same car as Raikkonen too.
The not testing thing could be got around by him driving last years car with a few modifications around the Ferrari test track.

It'll give me something to shout about on a Sunday afternoon.

Oh god, wouldn't it be perfect if he died. The sweet irony.

Not that I'm wishing it, just that I'd be highly entertained.

Personally think it is a stupid move by him, as everyone will be expecting him to win his first race, which isn't going to happen since the Ferrari hasn't won a race all season.

The McLaren is now better than the Ferrari by a big step, so the media is going to go crazy on the whole 'Hamilton is better than Schumacher' crap.

I think most people won't be expecting anything spectacular from Michael TBH, I'm certainly not, but it will make this season a little more interesting. It's quite impressive that Ferrari still consider Schumacher as a driver at the age of 40.

I bet Räikkönen is gonna be even more miserable now having to play second fiddle to a driving legend.

Schumi is a legend, and he has nothing to lose from coming back - he's just filling in for Massa after all.

I love Schumi, I cannot wait to see him handle the lack of traction control. I pray for a wet race before the season end.

It will make me watch 100%, he was the the only reason I kept watching for so long before.

It's a risky move, and not one that I was expecting actually. I would of been less surprised had Alonso taken the seat TBH.

Schumi does have a lot to lose - his reputation. There will be enormous pressure on him to win races, and anything less will be seen by some to be a failure. The inevitable comparisons to Hamilton/Vettel/Button will be made, and when he is beaten by them it will seriously dent his repuatation.

Personally, I'm not sure how well he will do. On the one hand, he is one of the best drivers to of ever sat in an F1 car. On the other, he hasn't driven one for 18 months (or one of the new aero reg cars at all), raced one for almost 2 years and is not up to the fitness levels that are needed to be competative. It will be a massive boost for the Scuderia though, both in terms of team morale and car development.

Whether he wins or not, expect Ferrari to up their game for the remainder of the season. Arse.

As an aside, be ready for Alonso to take Kimi's seat and Kubica to jump over to Renault. I'm guessing that BMW will revert to Sauber too, with the help of FOTA and a healthy wedge of cash for 2010 from BMW, ala Honda/Brawn.

Hmmm, not so sure.

Everyone knows he's not at a competative peak, he's just there by chance. If he wins, he wins, if he does ok then no probs, everyone knows he's the fricken F1 meister anyhoo.

IF he did this season half, then decided to come back next season, then he would be at risk of denting his rep a bit.

Right now, he's just adding a bit of extra interest.

Personally I hate the cheating scumbag:

I'll be watching and hoping he doesn't do well. I can't see as it can hurt his memory though - either he loses in a car that hasn't been good enough all year or he wins and he cements his place as the 'greatest driver ever'.

Ferrari were not nowhere when he joined. They were having plenty of podiums and won at Canada in 1995. He started in 1996 and won 3(?) races so a small step foreward but no amazing performance.
He then spent years helping them develop the car and finally once they had the best car he won his first championship with them in 2000.
Lets not forget Irvine almost beating him to it 1999 finishing only 2 points behind Hakkinen.

..rumors that some "po-faced ayrian looking dude" was seen ducking past the hungaroring entrance security teams with a handful of car springs have been strongly denied.. Very Happy

Is it really a shock return? Ferrari have two test drivers on contract.. Marc Gene and Luca Badoer, both of which would be better choices to fill in for Massa having actually driven the race car for what must be hundreds of testing miles each?

It is my sincere hope that if he does come back he spends the rest of this season as a contractual chair filler for ferrari circulating around the racetracks in double-figure positions while everyone points and laughs at him..

It's one thing to be arrogant and opportunistic, it's totally another to cheat and endanger other people on your own little mission for a string of f1 titles on the back of the strongest car on the grid.. I stop short of wishing him bodily harm, unlike my father who still wants to buy the piece of armco from Silverstone that broke the bastard's leg Smile

I was never a Schumacher fan,but had to admire his skill and German win at all cost arrogance. I think Ferrari are asking him to stand in hoping to get more points than possibly, Gene or badeor could manage.

Didn't he miss a few races that year 'cos he broke his leg though?

I remember his very first race in the 7UP Jordan (only time he ever drove for them), and it has to be said he was impressive that weekend.
