Technically you aren't allowed to tell people who you're voting for Confused

Out of: BNP, Conservatives, Labour and UKIP

Probably Conservatives because our local labour guy is a twat, the lib dems are left wing and generally don't have a grip on what they really want to do.

They are all equally crap?

No idea to be honest, don't get involved in polotics and not going to vote. Mostly because I can't be arsed and don't believe it'll make any difference anyway.

But it probably will make a difference, but whichever party you vote for, it'll be equally as bad so meh to it Rolling Eyes

I'm going for the lesser of two evils and voting for Conservative.

Although I might change my mind after I have read a bit more on the candidates.

I think along the same lines.

However, they all make promises they cannot, will not and had no intention of keeping.

As it was mentioned in the D Day thread. So many great men and women have fought and died for this country and what for, some di*$he$d in London to open our country up as a free for all in Europe. If they were doing such a good job why do Scotland and Wales clam indapendance.

Well that my 2p anyway.

Regards

Andy

In London we've also got a vote for the Mayor from a rather dull choice of...

Lindsey German - Respect - The Unity Coalition
Ram Gidoomal - Christian Peoples Alliance - Ram Gidoomal
Simon Hughes - Liberal Democrats
darren Johnson - Green Party Candidate
Julian Leppert - British National Party
Ken livingstone - The Labour Party Candidate
Frank Maloney - UK Independence Party
Dr. Tammy Nagalingam
Steve Norris - Conservative Party - for a Safer London
lorna Reid - Independent Working Class Association

As none of them have committed themselves to allowing motorbikes in bus lanes I doubt any of them will be getting my vote. Can't help feeling that we're missing out on the real loony element that's been seen in the past. Where is the ex-porn star for instance?

I try to keep on top of politics and stuff - and if I was born a few weeks earlier I'd be voting UKIP today.

I definitely do yes in the terms of not liking/agreeing with the things that actually affect me. i.e. bike stuff, petrol prices etc.

But all I (and everyone else for that matter Rolling Eyes) do about it is moan and wish it was different/better etc.

I don't get involved in politics with anything that doesn't actually affect me. Selfish? maybe but who cares, got to think about yourself as well as others and the politicians and government of this country certainly don't think about us, all they care about is themselves so why should I/we/us bother to vote for their stupid ideas when they probably have it rigged or something anyway Laughing

As we live in a democracy (unlike billions of other people), it is the one chance we have to influence who governs us. People who don't vote then have no right to comment on any government policy that subsequently affects their life.

You do not have to 'like' any particular candidate or Political Party to vote, equally you can vote against a Party or candidate as you may not believe in their policies.

As a Londoner we get to vote for the mayoral candidate - there are a dozen or so candidates but it will be between Ken Livingstone (Labour) & Steve Norris (Conservative). Personally I like Ken but as he has been endorsed by Tony Blah who is the biggest bullshitter & the worst Prime Minister we have ever had I will not vote for him. If Ken loses to Norris (who personally I think is a boorish individual) then it will sound a death knell for Blair which will be a good thing for this country. I think Gordon Brown would make an excellent Prime Minster (except for his views on Europe).

On the EU front, a vote for either Labour or the LibDems means a federal Europe, with us eventually governed by the 'conservative' Socialists of Europe. We are already seeing the effects of EU policy with mindblowing beauracracy, Human rights legislation (which we follow to the letter - which is the British way) that results in prisoners suing Governments for loss of liberty, and control of our Courts. All these things are a dangerous precedents!

Unlike others in this thread I believe that politics is something everyone should pay some interest in as one day it might be too late to have any influence!

They haven't even sent us voting cards! Mind you after years of apathy I expect they've stopped bothering...
I reckon they're all the same to be honest, except the BNP types of course - I'd give myself a serious kicking for not voting if any of them got in!

Well the European elections system is proportional representation is it not, which means the BNP WILL most definitely get some seats.

TBH alot of people will protest vote this time against the labour government, whether or not they choose an extreme right wing party or not is another matter Confused

Someone said they won't vote because it doesn't affect them, the european one mat not affect you much but your local council will Confused!

Voting should be made compulsary like in Australia.

Don't moan when someone is in power you don't like then. You do live in a democracy and you have the right to vote and you should use it.
