Just came back from a rather spirited ride, Ive not been on the bike for a bit so Ive been all over the locality just getting used to it.

Anyway Im heading out of town on a newish dual carriageway bypass to get further out so I can come back on the twistier bits.

As I join I spot anohter bike a good couple of hundred of metres away so I just potter, mainly to see what kind of bike it was. Anyway as he neared it became obvious whatever he was riding he was on the beans big style. He thundered past me and it was a fairly old R1. So I gave chase a little, catching up.

As Im approaching him something smashes me rock hard in the hip. I look down and my bloody knee slider has come off. It hit me then caught a bit of the bike and vanished. Jesus christ, to say I shit myself is an understatement. Im not going to say what speed I was at or approaching Wink

So I need some more sliders, they were the st georges cross sparkie ones, which I never really liked to be honest but were the only bit of colour on me or the bike (everything else is black and silver). Looking at the other knee, the material has come away from the velcro, so I probably wasnt far off losing that one, albeit through a failure of the material fixed to the velcro.

Shocking, I knew I shouldnt have got those wiz sliders!!

Wiz only use staples to stick the plastics to the velcro.

Although I'm yet to have problems with Wiz sliders disappearing.

I see a lot of riders with knee sliders on whos are NEVER going to get a KD in a month of Sunday's -which is when they usually come out!

Makes me smile no end looking at the smug twats on their RR's & immaculate kit knowing that they only go posing from bike shop to bike shop!

Tossers!!! Evil or Very Mad

I used to think that, and at one point I thought the kneedown was an acheivement. Oh look at me Ive had to buy another set of sliders.

Thing is theres plenty of people who have done it over and over and no longer see the point. I don't do it anymore, but I still like to wear sliders.

Ive had a look anyway and its put a small scuff on my tail unit. Crying or Very sad

Why wear leathers if your not going to fall off? I think people who dont generally kd wear them should the circumstances happen to occur and they manage to kd they have sliders on? Thats why I wear them anyway. Not as a fashion statement, although it does look better than an empty patch of velcro Thumbs Up

There were a few reasons for wearing mine even though they hadnt touched the deck in a while. Like I said they were quite eye catching, being on an all black bike/rider, they look better than an empty space, they are pretty good when you lowside and keep your knee off the deck, theres always the chance I might fancy a kneedown in a moment of madness. Ive put my old hein gericke ones back on now, I always liked them better anyway!

Ive got the yellow wiz ones with smiley faces on. When i got them i thaught they were just for show but they keep scraping. its kinda ruined them as they have black scraches all over but they sort of give me a target(im just below the second eye so far). I dont think id replace them unless i needed to though.

Why wear race leathers if your not going on a track day?
