Basically, Orange are about to increase their prices if you go over your monthly limit. As stated in your contract, if they do this, you have a right to cancel your contract.

I just did it then no problem, I was 7 months into an 18 month contract paying £50 a month an they just cancelled it. Don't have to return the handset and no cancellation fees.

I'm on Orange & would love to cancel it.

What exactly did you say on the phone then, as i always get confused with T&C's.

Cheers.

I rang 150 from my handset.

Press 1 for mobile phone enquiries. Then press 3 to speak to a customer service operator.

The conversation went like this:-

Me: "I would like to cancel my contract please"

Man: "Ok, can I ask you why you want to do that sir?"

Me: "It's about the recent change in your pricing, I'm not happy about it at all and want to cancel my contract"

Man: "Ok sir, let me pop you through to our disconnections department"

*Puts on hold*

Woman: "I believe you want to cancel your contract?"

Me: "Yes, my friend received the text messages about the price increases and I want to cancel it"

Woman: "No problem but seeing as you haven't received the text yet, it's due to be sent to your phone in the next few days, I will put your cancellation down as of Monday. If you want to keep your number, we will send you a PAC code in the post"

That was it. All you have to do is say you're not happy about the price changes and you're well within your right to cancel as per your contract states.

Don't let them fob you off, it's all perfectly legal. I rang them up again for my mums phone and after I cancelled that, I asked why they put their prices up.

OFCOM has made them put their prices up because they were far cheaper than anyone else. They can't change their contract terms an conditions as you signed them on paper.

Carphone Warehouse actually have big signs up on the walls saying, "Got an Orange contract phone? We can help you cancel it..."

The fella on the phone said they've been bombarded with calls about it non stop.

Fuck them, they rape us 365 days of the year on these things, their turn!

So... you can cancel your contract even if you only just taken it out 2 months ago, get a new contract phone and sell your old handset.

You don't have to send it back, again, as stated in their own terms an conditions ha.

Although this is good, I can't help but think OFCOM are really fucking everyone in the ass by saying a company is too cheap? Are they really fighting for the consumer? I don't think so matey.

My contract runs out in Oct. I'm not cancelling it because of this.

I managed to change my contract mid way from £35 200txt/200 min expensiveness . . . . to a newbie deal of £20 unlimited text 200 mins, just by complaining about their expensive prices (I'd been abusing my package). I'm going to do the same again in Oct and ask for more mins and £15, or I'll be off Smile . . . The fact their out of contract prices have gone up is extra ammo.

Depends on what you use the phone for though. I was caining it this time last year but I hardly use it these days so £50 a month is steep.

Same here, and as I remember it the phone cost me 30 quid which included 15 quid of credit.
Most people wouldn't been seen dead with the phone I have though.

Lol, one of my mates got an Omnia HD at the end of June/Mid July and cancelled, kept the handset.

I've just cancelled mine, sold my N958GB to Simply Drop, bought an iPhone 3GS 16GB with 3% cashback, got an o2 simplicity sim (12 month contract, 800 minutes, 1600 texts, free data bolt on) with £100 cashback.

Awesome.

They will soon.

Virgin have upped theirs. 02 are texting people about changes to their charges....

Funny how ALL mobile co's have been told to drop the excessive roaming charges by the EEC, and now we are seeing increasing prices at home......
Still they do have to recover all the cash that the Gov fleeced out of them for the rights.....

Well, it just so happens that I have insurance on mine. If you were to plug your phone into your PC and accidentally delete some important files off it so it didn't work. You can phone Orange up an get a replacement sent out via courier an they take the old one back. The a week later cancel your contract.

Meh, novelty bluetooth devices are the way to go:

https://www.retrotogo.com/2006/10/thinkgeek_retro.html

You can also get them old 1980's mobiles, complete with telescopic antennae as a bluetooth device that connects to your phone.

Mobile phones are shit.
They interrupt you, and usually with something trivial that could've waited.
The screens can't fit all the shit sub-menus, nevermind watch a video properly. They ask too much for a diddy display.
The sound is wank..end of.
They cause more risk to life than saving.

Bring back the CB Radio for communication.

Its all down to the T/C you sign. If they have the new charges in, or you are advised of them before signing you got no chance.

Basically if they change the T/C to your detriment, they have to give you the right to decline the new T/C and release you from the contract FOC.
They could ask for the phone back.
The offer to opt out of the contract will only last for 30 days after that, its taken that you agree to the new T/C.

This also works on many other types of contract as well, such as your isp Thumbs Up
