As title, yesterday I got totally soaked on the way back from work, and although my jacket is waterproof it did let in water around the cuffs.
I was also wearing waterproof troosers, but they let in water around the crotch (nice) and also on the thighs (bizzarely). Not elasticated bottoms so water in there too.
Furthermore, there is a gap between the jacket and troosers so I got a wet belly. Nasty.
Had it been on my way to work I would have been screwed.
Feet also soaking as my Oxtar TCX? boots are as waterproof as a seive.
So yes, since I will be commuting 30 miles e/w by bike for the forseeable future, I need to be watertight - full suit needed.
Boots are also a necessity, did think about ex army boots (which I may be able to get hold of very cheap), but not sure how waterproof these are. Other recommendations invited.

Well waxed British army issue assault boots.
Dutch army issue gore-tex trousers.
Neoprene "parlour top", a kind of waterproof smock, from an agricultural suppliers worn under the jacket.
Dry as a bone. ____________________ “Rule one: Always stick around for one more drink. That's when things happen. That's when you find out everything you want to know.”
I did the 2010 Round Britain Rally on my 350 Bullet. 89 landmarks, 3 months, 9,500 miles. |

I've got an Oxford Rain suit from Argos. It was £40 and is quite good, but i never wear it cos I am Hardcore !!!
If you are getting on, be sure to buy the XL (they only sell L and XL) - and the Large is really a small (with a large label on the back). I could tell that when i bought the large that someone else had bought it tried it on and then took it back. I had to do the same as well. |
