WAY HEY!! good job Thumbs Up Very Happy

dont want to be a critic here.. but your body position looks abit off to me...
looks to me like you are hanging you knee and arse off the seat, but keeping the top half of the body over the bike.

try to stretch out your left arm abit more and get your head past your right wing mirror.
it might just be the video making it look like that, but hanging the top half off aswell will make it much easier Thumbs Up

leaning the top half is the hardest bit as it makes you feel unsteady at first.

but.. AWESOME KNEE DOWN is all that matters Thumbs Up Laughing

Sounded more like a squeak than "police" to me Laughing Thumbs Up

On a side note I got knee down on a cat's eye yesterday which was a nice whack Razz
Roundabout surfing soon gets boring but you have to go back ot it just to keep it up, find a place on where you get you're left knee down and then you're talking...

It's allot more challenging to go into a corner and drag your knee than it is on a roundabout because the corners will variate and you won't have so much time to position yourself.
This isn't to say that you should go around looking to drag your knee at every set of twisties, remember what knee sliding is about and it doesn't necessarily mean that you're cornering fast.

But the positives are that you now know that you can so it can be another aspect of your "fast riding" and "control" skills that you can improve on, you also don't have to worry about it daunting you on the track, it felt allot more natural on the track when I rode Angelsey.

Yeah its great fun Smile and i will start to progress it on to other corners and not just roundabouts.

There has been times when going through a set of twistys where i have managed to get the toes down and scrap side of the boot but its just the daring part to actually postion youlrself and get the knee down also Smile

Haha squeak! Mr. Green

if anyone lives by reddich, west midlands then there is a road called the cloverleaf, which is a fast selection of left hand bends which join and come of the by-passes. youtube it and you will see, great if you want to destroy a few left knee sliders Thumbs Up

I know it's tricky when you're going round and round a roundabout, but I wouldn't go shutting off the throttle too much when you've got your knee down. It's a great way to lose the front.

You want to be neutral or ideally slightly accelerating when you have your knee down. Gets the weight off the front tyre so it won't wash out.(Provided the surface is consistant)

That's what worries the shit out of me being so far perched over mid bend, what happens if you have to get it back up again in a hurry?

Counter steer.

You can hoick it back up super quickly.

As long as you are on a positive throttle with kneedown you won't crash. Assuming the road surface is consistant.

If you can ride a motorcycle above 20mph then you're doing it subconciously, there is no other way to turn a motorcycle at speed. Trust me. Google it if you fancy some reading.

Yeah just did. Will have to try that out when a) it's not peeing it down and b) I'm sober. Bizaare though, I'd never have noticed if it I'd not seen it from a third party perspective if you know what I mean.

agree with bigham.. countersteer is the only way to turn at speed.

if you steer right on a righthand bend at speed... you will go left haha Laughing

if you can't get KD but you want to learn, the best place is an airfield.
theres one in Eye i used which has a smooth surface so you can just go round in circles till you touch down. plus traffic dont bother you.
dont do it for too long because you go dizzy and fall off.

aparently most people cant get KD because of their body position.
the bike is certainly capable of it. Thumbs Up

Yeh but it just feels right to me, I can easily get knee down without scraping the toes but then it starts to feel like "whoah this is odd",
mind you I did it in steel toecaps once and it will catch immediatly Shocked

thats teh wrong way round Wink

you dont want to counter steer to sit the bike up you want to positive steer (turn the bars into the corner)

counter steer drops you into the corner
positive steer will sit you up

reading rossi 's cornering techniques he positive steers sharply to sit the bike up as quickly as possible so he can get back on the gas asap... the guys a legend Smile

Just a quick note while I'm here - countersteer generally means to turn the bars the opposite way to the way you want to go.
Thus you are still considered to be countersteering when you are turning in to the corner to get the opposite affect Smile.
