OK, this has benn brought up many times, but I kinda need some assistance.

I currently have textile traousers and Jacket and want to get myself some leathers.

The problem is i'm a stumpy fat bugger... (I've been called many things, that is the best of them Crying or Very sad )

Jacket's are fine, Large fits.

It's the trooosers....
I have tried a couple of pairs and there all toooo long, the knee pads are on my shins!!

I've considered looking into the female trouser section It has been mentioned before to me, to check out the female trousers as they are generaly shorter, so might look into that. There's no difference I'm sure.

But if anyone has any ideas.. please shout out.

I would like to get a 2 pc race suit thingy, a bit like;

https://www.newenough.com/product_pictures/a/alpinestars_gpu_two_piece_suits/blue_black_front.jpg
Can you use these on the track Question
Is there something i need to check to confirm it's track legal Question

I also don't want to have to starve the family for months because I've spent all THEIR money on leathers. Twisted Evil

I'm not sure about custom leathers or finding the suit I like and getting it adjusted. I don't know which is more cost effective.

Thanks for your replies.

Swaffs

Mr C recommends https://www.crowtreeleathers.co.uk/frames.htm get some made, they can cost about the same as off the peg stuff.

Don't know where you live but I'm currently having my Frank Thomas trousers altered to fit me. They're shortening them, moving the knee and narrowing them for £39. Oh, and from what I've heard they're really good (haven't got mine back yet).

The company's called Unique leather and they're in Hull.

Jimmy - that's good advice

If you can find somewhere that can do a good job on bike leathers then it's worth letting people know aas they are few and far between

Most custom places places won't do alterations on any kit but their own and most "leather stitchers" know fuck all about bike leathers

let us know how you get on

I do sympathise with you Swaffs. I am curvy so have problems getting leathers that fit. It took me ages to get a jacket, and I need to get leather trousers sorted out but I know it's going to take me a day of trying on and getting upset when I won't fit in any! Crying or Very sad

I have problems with all trousers I buy as I seem to have been born with a pair of thunder thighs. It's the reason I always wear loose fitting pants now, plus it doesn't help that I'm 5 foot 10 either.

Anyway my Alpinestars, even though expensive, seem to have just the right amount of thigh and butt space. They were a perfect fit from the moment I tried them on. I guess it's just a question of spending a day trying on different leathers, getting pissed off and then finally cracking a smile when you find a pair that fit comfortably with your bodies natural shape.

www.bikersparadise.co.uk is where I got my 'ladies' leathers, tho they'd fit a tubby short bloke just as well as a tubby short bird.

I got another pair of trousers in Hein Gericke the other day - the knee pads seems a little low when you're standing up but when you're on the bike they're in the right place. Stretchy panels so fit wasn't a problem and length... nice sharp pair of scissors soon sorts that out. Thumbs Up

Unique Leathers in Hull are pretty good. M had her leathers altered there after she had lost some weight. They brought them in down the sides of both legs, did a good job. The only downside is that it is more difficult to zip the trousers to the jacket now, as the zip on the trousers is slightly bunched up (as the tops of the trousers is now slightly smaller than the bottom of the jacket).

I had my leather trousers altered at a place called 'Factory Leather Shop' in Dewsbury, they did a fantastic job I would say the fit of the trousers is now as good as any made-to-measure jobs (although technically I guess they are now made-to-measure). It cost £94 to have roughly 2 inches taken out of each leg, some taken from the inside and some taken from the outside and a new chunky zip put on the jacket and the trousers. This was done last year and I would certainly use them for alterations again. The best bit was that M had bought the trousers from Riossi closing down sale for £25 but they were about 2 sizes too big. Effectively I ended up with made to measure leather trousers for £119, bargain. Thumbs Up
