Exhaust wraps

I'm toying with the idea of maybe wrapping my exhaust in, well, a wrap.

I know that they can smoke when first put on as it cures and its also stated that it can make it run leaner?

Anybody used it could shed some light or suggestions? Will affect the bike in the long term, will it need to be rewraped or replaced in the future, will it affect the SS underneath once fitted...etc

I had one on a stainless manifold on a car once, and it had marked the pipe when I took it off, probably a year or so later.

Why would you want to?

Serves no purpose on the road apart from collect dirt, so not even cosmetic.

Fair point.

I've got a small bolt hole that keeps blowing near the slip on. I was thinking that maybe a set of wraps would solve the problem and just change the look slightly.

It is an open pipe with no heat shield too? I mean you'd have to be an idiot to touch it or a master in yoga to burn yourself when riding.
