Well my zxr is lookign slightly sorry for itself. nextddor neighboutr reversed over it when i was in work today. so i know have a crached genny casing , and mashed faring pannel, He cae to see me about it. and picked it up.

thing is im worried if it goes thru inshurance it will get written off as i only inshured it for £600.

also the engine is a bit tappy lately (cam chain needs doing) so i dont know weather to put it thru the inshurance or hunt for parts on ebay for it ><

ont he other hand might get a fresh paintjob if it goes thru inshurance ?

What you stated it as being worth doesn't matter. They will assess its valvue themselves and as far as i know you can challenge this.

I'd get him to pay up though, will cost him less.

Is putting it through the insurance an idea, when it affects both of you financially and you live so close with everyday neighbourlyness or do you think; that's what its there and I'm paying it for. Wink

I'd ask your neighbour what he thinks, get some prices for parts etc...and then decide from there. Your neighbour seems pretty reasonable seeing as he actually bothered to come and see you about it. Maybe he'll say that even though it may cost more for parts, he'll still pay so that the bike is not potentially written off.

To argue the value with the insurance company you can just get together a whole load of adverts off autotrader for ZXRs with similar mileage etc. The beauty of this is that they can't expect you to replace it with a cheap private sale bike off ebay so you can show them inflated traders prices. I bought my old Rieju SMX125 for £600 on Ebay but got £1250 from the insurance company when it got nicked after arguing that I couldn't replace it for less (only a couple for sale in the whole country from some optimistic dealers). Make sure you reject their first offer, they will haggle and to be honest, the engineer who phoned me seemed to be on my side to some extent and wasn't desperate to save the insurance company money.
