Whilst doing my now unfortunately all too regular motorway jaunt between homes I saw all the nobbish behavior you can on the roads of modern britain and it got me to wondering...

What annoys you most on the roads today?

People on phones? Tailgating? Being cut up?

Me personally I have to say its the people on the phone. Where as my other two examples can simply be caused by someone being a complete moron being on the phone to me means they are conscientiously endangering other road users because telling (or even worse txting Evil or Very Mad ) someone how drunk they were last night simply cant wait.

So please join me in venting...

Things that annoy me du jour...

Arrow people who won't do the speed limit, nor attempt to get close to it.
Arrow people who don't use slip roads to match the speed of the traffic they're joining, then stop at the end and wait for a gap.
Arrow people who don't drive up to the line at junctions when turning right, instead they wait half a car's length away stopping me from turning left.
Arrow people who sit at a green light in the filter left lane, because they really wanted to go straight on but that light is red.
Arrow people who take a ticket at the hospital car park barrier then drive forward 10 feet and stop, whilst wondering where to park, stopping anyone else from clearing the barrier.

These are not problems I have when on the bike, however Smile

Hooning around in residential areas gets me up the wrong way.

Last night, had some idiots doing maybe 35-45 past my house, skidding into the bends (quiet street with a 20 limit).

I'm no killjoy. On an open road, do what you want. Don't give a fuck if the same idiots went and did 130+ on the carriageway network a mile or so away.

Only morons speed excessively in residential areas. People who actually have family and friends realise that the 20s and 30s through neighbourhood areas are completely reasonable.

People who only decide to indicate at the very last possible moment or people who don't indicate at all, turn into a street and then indicate when they've pretty much finished the manoover.

People who decide it's alright to pull over in the middle of a road, blocking all traffic, so they can speak to their mate or someone they know and have a conversation with them. Pisses me right off that.

Which reminds me...

Arrow People who think that indicating means "I am now going to perform this manoeuvre" rather than "I intend to perform this manoeuvre".

People who don't use the slip road to merge onto the main road, just barge onto the road they are joining expecting others to get out of the way.
People not moving over to the left hand lane when it is empty on motorways and dual carriage ways.
People holding mobile phones while they are on speaker phone thinking it is the same as hands free.
Sports bike riders who will do 90mph on a twisty B- road but only 75mph on the motorway.
People who ride their bikes lin the same manner they would drive their cars.

people who don't let me in when i'm on a slip road.

you can very clearly see that i'm joining the road, get the fuck out of my way. stop hogging the nearside lane, it wouldn't kill you to move over to the middle lane or to just slow down slightly so there is a space for me to go into.

if you don't let me join the traffic what do you expect me to do, stop and wait until there's a big gap for me to pull from being stationary?

you fucking well have to be fucking polite and considerate to your fellow road users, even if they are all cunts

In no particular order:

Tossers who purposely try to stop me overtaking and usually force me into the opposite side of the road.
People who never indicate.
People who run red lights.
Joy riders/illegal drivers/foreign drivers.
Boy racers and juvenile car drivers who always see bikes as an excuse to tailgate and push for a race Rolling Eyes
Dickhead ped boys who ride side by side all the time like a pair of sissys.
and i suppose in general....i just hate everybody else on the roads Cool

Had a bizzare encounter the other day too.Just done a roundabout and was belting down a wide stretch of open road when i noticed all the cars were stopped dead in the opposite lane (without reason ).
There`s also a car stopped in my lane up ahead too so i start to slow down.As i get there i see i both cars are filled with arrogant liitle fucktards just chit chatting through the windows and giving all the other cars the middle finger/verbal abuse even though they`re the ones in the wrong by holding everyone up.
I can`t get up the middle coz they`re too close to each other so i flash the twats, beep the horn, then move to the nearside to undertake.Just as i get alongside he floors it and tries to run me into the kerb.I brake/pull back then come up on the drivers side and start shouting "WTF??" and to my surprise the little cunt turns the wheel towards to me as if to imply he`ll knock me off if i dont move.

Needless to say....i dissapeared off into the horizon before things got any worse.!!! Rolling Eyes

The main things that annoy me are:

Arrow People who stay in the overtaking lane on the motorway when there's nothing in the slow lane and sit in it at 60mph.

Arrow People who drive at 40mph everywhere.

Arrow People who stop at the end of slip roads or people who generally just can't figure out how to use sliproads.

Arrow Cars overtaking other cars on the motorway really slowly when it's busy making all the other traffic back up behind it (lorries doing this does not annoy me as they're just doing they're job and working with what they've got, tourist in his people carrier full of kids and holiday stuff doing it does my head right in though, just stick your foot down for 10 seconds!)

It's mainly motorway stuff that annoys me, I can cope pretty well with people being idiots in towns and the like but when people can't drive on motorways where it's pretty hard to get it wrong that's when I get really annoyed.

Skudd wrote:

Why does that annoy you? I do that pretty much, I don't get any thrills from doing 90mph on a motorway but doing a similar speed on a non motorway road is usually a bit more involved. As long as they're not hogging the overtaking lane then what's the problem? I think (well in North Wales anyway) you're probably more likely to get done for speeding on a motorway, the amount of people I've seen pulled over on the A55 by North Wales Police HQ is crazy.

Then, clowns that overtake pushbike's only to pull into a side road right after, making the pushbike slowdown; stop or scrape the side of the car.

I think everything else I could say is covered nicely here:

this one..

on the fairly rare occasions that i get to go somewhere for pleasure I love driving in the countryside.. B roads and such.

Seems every time I do however, I get caught by some doddering arse-candle, usually in some small Korean car that blatently screams "i traded my mint condition, beige, Austin Maestro in for this to celebrate the 10th anniversary of my retirement" who holds to the belief that it's perfectly acceptable to average out all the speed limit signs they encounter on their journey, leading to them sticking religiously to 45mph no matter where they are.

School Zones, 30limit village high-streets, b-roads, a-roads, motorways, doesn't matter.. Agnes and I've been driving for 166 years and never had an accident,, I long for the day when one of these people decides to drive Muriel down to Italy for the holiday sun and we get treated to the CCTV footage of them getting flattened by a 7Series BMW because they were doing 45mph on the Autobahn Smile

that and people on mobile phones, unless you've been patched through to NASA control to help them guide a stricken space shuttle in to land your phone-call isn't so important that you don't have time to stop you car while you talk Evil or Very Mad

Car that pull out on me when im in the right hand land, going 40+, causing me to hammer on the brakes sharpish, because those 3 seconds of waiting for me to go past is asking far too much of their time.

But the kicker is when they do that and pull into the right hand lane to crawl slowly as fuck up to the speed limit, meaning I either undertake if it;s possible, or am left crawling behind them, frothing with anger as I wish them a rotting death and hope their ghosts get cancer too.

# people who slam their breaks on and then indicate

# people who tailgate, especially taxi drivers! makes me nervous as taxis have killed people in thsi town.

# people who dont know where they are going, stop, look about not indication to anyone what they are doing other than looking about them ignoring everyone behind them.

#people who back their cars out of parking spaces in the main street without looking but hoping no one is coming or they will stop for them.

Lorries parked everywhere and then people treble parking even taking up the oncoming traffic space!

# people not looking what they are doing by either chatting on phone,(blocking window with arm) then looking shocked when they see me pass on a main road when they turn to see me after they have pulled out!

#what is with that? who pulls out looking the wrong direction? I see it so much. I slow right down and make sure i am seen now. Sick of clenching my arse cheeks on the bike.

#old ladies pulling out wherever, they do this in shops they push the que and they do it on the roads to! apparently it must say on their ancient licence they have preferance.

#The way people try to take me of my bike because they cut the cornor at the end of the road. I am on my side but they must cut it ! I dont know why!

people who park in the middle of the main road, not on double yellow lines right beside them in the middle of the road. On a cornor! so there is a nice surprise when your coming rround it. I have learned from all these by the way! I take my time on these hot spots and am glad I did or I may not be here now.

And after observing I have realised that most the poeple that annoy me are NOT chavs! everyone else.

Apart from everything listed, one that really fecks me off is when your stuck behind a long queue of traffic for a few miles, and as soon as an overtaking opportunity appears, the arse-wit infront of you (in a rover 25 no doubt) decides to go for it. Overtaking maybe 2 cars if they're lucky, at a pace about 5mph faster than the rest of the traffic, stopping me from making like a russian (Fuckoffski!) past the whole lot. Evil or Very Mad
