I'm sure we have all at sometime gone a bit to far when riding. Either too hot into a corner or maybe an overtake at the completely wrong moment.

I think my most reckless moment was on the zxr when I had not long passed my test. I was on an narrow NSL road and I went for an overtake on a bus with a bus coming the other way. I was in such a rush to get to work that I thought sod it I'll make it and white lined it between the two. Atoms were the only thing that separated my handlebars from either bus and if I had even breathed out I'm sure I would have been under the wheels.

Mines not particularly heroic or breathtaking but premeditated and reckless stupidity never the less and I'm sure there are some corking stories out there on BCF so.......

Whats your most heroic and/or stupid manoeuvre pulled?

Pretty much exactly the same as yours, other than substitute the buses for Rovers, and 'late for work' for 'trying to keep up on a rideout'.

Stopped doing rideouts since that moment.

Not long after getting the XJ900F, drunk, and at a set of traffic lights late one night with some mates. Redlined it and dumped the clutch in first, next thing I know I'm staring at my tank with my legs dangling, holding onto the bars for dear life, hurtling towards a parked car. Dunno how the front came down, but it landed, bounced and pointed me back towards the middle of the road, narrowly missing the car.

Twat.

Nothing came of it bad wise but was doing 65 down A14 and a lorry overtook another lorry and was going 0.002mph faster than the other one, so i went down the middle on my YBR, got through safely without drama but yea... instant death there

Shocked myself a few days ago on the north circular, 3 lanes, im in the outside lane moving along not slowly, a minute or so back something had flustered me.

anyway i realise late its my exit, go to move in, do a wee lifesaver and see some white car inches from my back wheel in the middle lane, but the arrogant way i pulled out whilst looking had almost committed me to switch lanes anyway, so instead of pulling back over i just opened it up, while the car i cut up probably diddent have to brake he did thankfully, so yea twattish thing to do, hand up in apology and scarpered in embarrassment.

Thats nothing to my mate a few years back, When i got into riding he was already riding 600's (illegally) i might add, anyway he was crazy and got caught with no insurance/licence etc and got banned, anyway a couple of years later i had just got my Bandit 6 i think or maybe it was my 500, he was on a little dispatch 125 and we were 'making progress' back from the ace cafe, but he was not used to being on a smaller bike than me and did not like being behind. He then proceeded to do the most shocking thing i have seen anyone do on a bike.

One lane of traffic either way, near a bus garage, residential/busy ish street. So a bus begins to pull out of a bus stop, i opt to slow down and wait for it to pull out, my mate behind me decides to mount the fucking kerb and undertake us both on the pavement, passing the bus stop with people sitting at it. He came out in front of me and the bus, but im still shocked by the foolishness of it years later...

He is rightfully embarrassed now about the affair...

I guess my most recent daft episode was going through road works on a NSL dual carriageway. There was a Focus in the fast lane doing 30mph (the roadworks SL), nothing in front of him, and a completely empty slow lane. After following him VERY closely with my lights on full for a while it was clear he wasn't budging. So I undertook, quick in - quick out making sure he wasn't going to pull over and that no cops were about.
Next thing I know he's following me fast as he can and catching up fast (I don't have the fastest bike in the world!). We leave the roadworks and I begin to overtake a car in the slow lane where I think 'Fuck this for a laugh', suddenly slow right down so I'm doing the same speed alongside him. The Focus is really losing it by this point and also very, very close to my back tyre, I keep it like that regardless until I approach my junction, I then slow down even more so the car next to me is going slightly faster and starting to undertake me before I drop down a gear and let rip, leaving the Focus eating my dust and me taking my exit - the Focus didn't follow! Twisted Evil

I can be an utter prick at times. But even when I'm doing stupid stuff like this I'm always careful to watch my mirrors, blind spots etc and minimise chances of bad things happening...

Laughing Thats a bloody awful feeling.

Worryingly I managed to do that last week on an H100 while completely sober Embarassed

Didn't show the bike any respect and it bit me Smile and I still have no idea how it managed to come down either.

no comment Laughing

someone who isn't me says probably stuff involving lack of insurance, restrictors, tax or mot whilst riding like an idiot to get home before freezing to death cos of weather being snow & icey & generally really cold.

someone who isn't me also says they've done lots of worse stuff when driving rather than riding.

I want my license back so that I can start being irresponsible again Crying or Very sad

It's not hardcore unless it was a single carriageway. Cool

There were so many in my first 10years of riding that I don't care to think about it.
Lets just say that when i was 16 I bought an FZR1000 Exup and did 10,000 miles in my first year alone. I didn't do my test until I was 21 so that's 5 years of riding completely without licence, insurance etc.

The actual manoeuvres i've pulled? How long you got?

I once overtook a car that was hogging the overtaking lane on a dual carriageway at about 130mph (he was doing 70).

Note, that's overtook, not undertook. Shifty

I overtook 7 cars at once on a twisty road. Thought I could make it, but had to pull in behind the lead car because of an oncoming car. The cars were quite close together. There was only just room for my bike with absolutely no stopping distance.

That is the only real "damn, I could of died" moment.

I try not to think about what could have happened. I was tired and was absolutely gunning it. (doing about 110 while overtaking).

Actually, come to think about it, I'm pretty disappointed in myself for not having enough respect for life and choosing to do a stupid manoeuvre.

All the cars were close to each other but were doing about 50mph so there was no room to abort the overtake. had to push in and make room behind the lead car.

I'm normally so careful. I don't know what came over me. Sad

Been quite a few times I've done things in the heat of the moment that I wouldn't repeat if my brain was working correctly.

Overtook an M3 I was 'racing' once on the outside of the outer lane (dual carriageway) around a mild right hander at 140+ (kmh Wink Shhh! ) when it was raining. All the gravel/debris at the side of the road had turned to slush. Wouldn't normally of done it, but it was either that or loose, and unfortunately pride and competitiveness overcame all rational brain activity.

Oh god.. done that one too many times this year alone. Can't bare to think about it.. (admitidly not at 130 as the CB doesn't go that fast)

In fact I'm reading everyones posts thinking it all sounds too familiar.

Does anyone else think 'I'll just have a nice gentle commute to work today' and then turn into a banzai idiot? Or is it just me?

Plenty of momentslike above, but there was one that was particularly premediatated and retarded that I'd say it was my most reckless.

Was visiting family in Lincolnshire, and due to my rear tyre being punctured and down to the cords I had a new one on the way. Really fancied a shag so I decided to go back home, at 8 PM. Footpumped tyre up to 40 odd PSI and figured I'd top it up every services, like I had on the way up. Stopped at a local garage 6 miles later and found it was down to 6 PSI already.

Just under 3 hours later I was in Plymouth. 311 miles...

Had loads of minor ones in the first few months of riding....but the scariest was only last year.

On the east lancs in 1st lane coming upto a set of traffic lights. There`s a car already stationary so i cut the speed well before i get there and just kind of crawl along waiting for the lights to change.
Lights go to green just as i come up behind the car so i start to move over into the fast lane for an overtake but without doing a lifesaver or checking my mirrors.
Rolling Eyes

all i heard was the loud beep of a car horn and the screach of tyres as a supra flew past me doing about 60-80.Seriously don`t know how he managed to avoid clipping me but glad he did all the same.
Had i pulled out 1 second earlier he would`ve hit me full on from behind and i`d be dead now.
