Cant believe it.
Went into town today as I am planning to get all new gear tomorrow.
So I was wondering round the bike shop looking at lids and a Shark one tickled my fancy, I think it was about 230 quid ...

I picked it off the shelf holding it in a normal manor, looking at and I just dropped it, in all fairness I was holding a phone and trying to get a juicy fruit out.
There was no other people in the shop just a fat man looking at boots.
Its all good, he just said " tutut, naughty boy " and implied that someone was coming so get it off the floor kind of thing.
Absolutely shitting myself I was Laughing .
What do you reckon would have happened to me. ???

Nothing. They may have asked you for the money for it, but the likelihood is you'd have told them where to stick it and they'd not be able to do anything other than ban you from the store.

They'd probably use it as a display helmet and never sell it or something. Thats providing there's no visible damage to the shell.

That fat man?

The reason he's fat is because he's employed by the shop to eat people who drop helmets. He must've just been fed so you he let you go...

Not much they could've done I would've thought. They could ask you to pay but all you'd have to do is say no, (even if they had a sign up saying 'you break it, you pay for it.')

I remember the CBT training people making a big song and dance about having to replace helmets if they are dropped. The first thing someone did was drop their borrowed helmet, I didn't see the guy rushing to stop the learner from sticking it back on and riding off.

Thumbs Up

... and their is the very reason why you should say 'no' when the shop says... 'it's the last one...., no, all the display models are very well looked after!!! .......'

Not that you really know what has happened to them in delivery, but you would hope the box would protect them a bit! Laughing

You may have got a telling off, but why were you holding a phone and trying to eat a sweet when you were blatantly holding a fairly expensive bit of kit that weren't yours?

I did similar to an FM helmet I was considering buying many years ago.
Went back later that day and got £10 off because of the mark on it, when I asked. It was Motorcycle City, so had no significant moral qualms about it.
