With this orange contract loophole thang I'm shopping round for new phones, and I've pretty much got it down to an N95 or 5800 (gonna play with the touch screen on my GFs sisters on thursday to see if it fucks me off or not)

Anyway a lot of websites seem to have the same deal you'll get in shops, but with some kind of cashback, or half price for a few months or whatever type thing, the biggest one I've found is this one

https://www.buymobilephones.net/mobile-phones/Nokia/Nokia-5800-Red-Free-Line-Rental-Discount/T-Mobile/T-Mobile-Combi-30-(18mths)/356503,75187398?adnetwork=af&adnetwork=af

Basically it's just setting 'too good to be true' alarm bells ringing. you're getting a £30 quid a month contract for closer to a tenner a month Confused . Anyone done one, is it a hassle to claim the cash back (seems you send your bills back every 4 months and they send you a cheque) Most importantly has anyone used that specific site, just to put me at ease that it's not a scam

cheers,

oh yeah and N95 vs 5800, feel free to weigh in

N95's are ok make sure they are patched up though as they where shit to start with. 5800's have the same software as the n97which has a fair few software bugs.

Quote:
Get 11 Months Free Line Rental with this Deal.

This can be redeemed as Cash Back to your Bank Account.

12 month contracts are redeemed in 4 equal stages after bill 5, 7, 9 and 12. 18/24 month contracts are redeemed in 5 equal stages after bill 4, 8, 12, 15, and 18, Full claim details are listed in our terms and conditions.

Can you remember to make the claim at the correct time, as it will not happen automaticly.

Quote:
Make your claim by sending in:
- your first five airtime bills (where your first bill is the first correspondence from your network requesting ANY payment) and your first claim voucher within 60 days of the date on your 5th airtime bill;
- your 6th and 7th airtime bills and your second claim voucher within 60 days of the date on your 7th airtime bill;
- your 8th and 9th airtime bills and your third claim voucher within 60 days of the date on your 9th airtime bill;
- your 10th, 11th and 12th airtime bills and your fourth claim voucher within 60 days of the date on your 12th airtime bill.

All claims should be received within the time period set out on each voucher. Bills received after the period specified will not qualify for line rental refunds or cash backs. Each bill must show that your tariff has not changed since the time of connection.

As you need a bill, thats a extra £1 a month unless you are able to get a copy online and print off.

Also its not often that a phone company will have to allow you out of a contract like Orange at the moment.....
So don't expect it to happen again. They may get the legal bods to re-write the T'C to cover something like this where they are forced to up the price.
Any contract you take out now will be at the new rates as well.

That company is alright, they've been around for a while and their deals are as described so long as you follow their rules. Best read the threads over at moneysavingexpert:

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=155535

https://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=352100

I've just finished an 18-month cashback contract with mobiles.co.uk (it's a similar site, affiliated with carphonewarehouse) - it all went fine.

The risk is that the company may go bust during the period where they're meant to be paying you (but you're still contracted to the phone company), or else you might forget to send your bills in.

It's best to use recorded delivery, by the way, which costs £1.14 at the moment, and you have to go down to the post office to do it, so factor that in.

The way they make money is that they get a kickback commission from the mobile network for signing you up.

It might be worth checking out quidco as well for cashback deals.
