Carrying things on a bike!

Grrr, I'm pissed off!

Found a pretty good deal on a wireless mouse and keyboard in Curry's today and was about to buy it when I realised I wouldn't be able to fit it on my bike!!
I asked and they wouldn't honour any attempt to return it if it was faulty without the box... I've got a topbox on my bike but it isn't big enough for the keyboard/mouse box.

(Note to self: Always carry bungie leads on the bike!! )

Anyone else gone through this?

Yes I carry bungies with me and just strap stuff to the back seat of my YBR against the top box, anchoring to the luggage points on the sides and rear rack.. So far I've strapped on:

An Apple iMac

A TV aerial (32 element outdoor one! Must have looked weird.)

A DVD/VCR combi (unboxed).

A small suit case.

Lots of boxes of things different shapes and sizes - sometimes more than one at a time, stacked (Airfix kits for example).

Black sacks of clothes etc.

A wireless keyboard/mouse should not pose a problem.

Few times ive been caught out ive just nipped into local shop and bought some tape to tape bits to the bike or to me. Thats a load of bollocks though about them not allowing returns on faulty items unboxed. They may kick up a fuss if you are refunding but for an exchange should be no probs.

I've never been shopping on my bike before, but if I did, I'd be sure to put a wicker basket on the front.

I did collect a missed parcel from the PO depot. Not knowing what it was, I arrived, and was delighted to see that it was a really really long thing . . . Mr RM chuckled.

I felt like a knight in shining armour with a sword strapped across my back (Actually the fekker restricted my head movement and I worried it might fall out of my teeny draw-string bag, so I rode like a pleb).

A cargo net is one of the basics a biker should carry. They can secure most things within reason. Gaffa tape is another thing to carry if you have room.

i had a similar issue in april with buying my laptop in that the box wouldn't fit in my kreiga, so i sidled up to the"tech guys" desk and they kindly put it behind the desk with "customer on motorcycle" written on it so i would have been able to claim .

oh and for mose random i have actually had to pick up a couple of sabre (fencing) blades from a PO depot afor ( i took the backroads hame to avoid the police to save having to explain.

Never had a problem. Carried everything from a large bouquet of flowers to a Dyson on the back of a bike. Even a set of running gear off a ZX6R on one memorable ride, none of these items required a top box.

Get a cargo net, store under seat. Simples.

Why dident you just ask for a couple of plastic bags, double them up for strength then slide your hand ( i prefer left hand) as far through as possible...

The amount of times i must have carried full bags of shopping dangling from each elbow home, granted you wouldent want to do 100's of miles like that but it will get you home???
