Ok, having a bit of a nightmare with my mates bike.

I've been over it once, he complained about a few things about the running of it, so ive taken a look.
So far ive fixed a fuel line leak, fixed a split 2 stroke pipe and checked oil pump and carb is ok. Generally the bike is in good condition but he's left it out a lot after some offroading.

I took the carb apart and cleaned it through, then re-assembled it. Im sure i assembled it correctly, there isn't much to it. It was tricky getting the spring on top of the slider (for those that know what im on about) then the top fixed down, but it works.

I couldn't work on it much more so left him to it, he went out on it down the road a few days later but he lost power and it died on him. Personally i think it was because he ran out of fuel as it was low and not on reserve. Rolling Eyes

So i have the bike now. The symptoms are as follows, the bike starts with quite a handful of throttle, the idle isn't right, once started it can climb or stay still, it sits around 3 grand.
The throttle doesn't stick at the bar end but it does somewhere on the cable i think as if you rev it, sometimes it carries on or stays there for a second or two.
If you leave it to idle eventually the bike will loose power and stop.
Is this sounding like a fueling problem? Is there not enough fuel staying in the carb bath or something??

Cheers Thumbs Up

Hi , you shouldnt leave a two stroke to idle for long it will coke up the spark plug and you will have mis firing. It also sound like you have a air leak between the carb and inlet manifold this could explain why you can only start the bike with full throttle. does the rpm go up and down on its own some times.

Have you checked if your throttle cable is rooted properly.

Yeah the revs climb and go down on their own, but not sure how air would be getting in looking at it.
Will be checking throttle cable today. Thumbs Up

Air leak will make the revs climb on there own and stick alot, ususally carb to barrell and carb to airbox rubbers perished is what youd be looking for there.
