Europe mini Grand-tour, suggestions etc?

Only vague planning so far, but I'm hoping to do some very vaguly like the following route on 2nd - 17th October.

This route.

Night ferry to Holand, maybe pick up some supplies in Rotterdam, then head down to Nurburgring. If I'm fine getting there for Saturday evening, maybe do a lap or two.
A few more laps Sunday morning, then head towards Switzerland.
See how far I get and stop to camp. On to cross the Alps, possibly taking a couple of days.
Head down through Italy, finding some nice food on the way.
A day stop in Monaco, maybe a night too.
Carry on through France to the southern Pyrenees; where I'll hopefully have some off-road routes to play at.
From there, go on to Bareclona, either head back to Pyrenees, or carry on up through central Spain.

Any thoughts, suggestions, etc?
Plan is to 'wild camp' wherever possible, though maybe with occasional camp sites to get a shower in, etc.

Three quick thoughts...
1. If not sure already check your insurance for the ring (also check it's open on your day(s)).
2. Remember warm clothes needed for going over/under the Alps.
3. Go as far south in Italy as you can, it's cheaper and nicer (it's like going as far north in Scotland as you can, except Scotland's more expensive ).

Other than that, have fun.

Insurance won't cover the ring - none does pretty much. There are some questions over whether or not this is legal for them to say, which is another matter.
I'll be on a loaded enduro style bike, so won't be going that fast anyway . I've checked and it's open Saturday Evening and Sunday in the day, which is ideal for me - just hope it's not wet!
Yep, and for the pyrenees to at this time of year when you get up high, I suspect. After my recent walk to the top of mount Tiede (teneriefe) when I was rather unprepared (no food or drink bar some low calorie sweetener along with shorts and t-shirt with snow/ice patches at the top and 40-50mph winds at points) I plan to do a bit better this time .

I mostly going through Italy to avoid some of France and get some nice food - unfortunately can't really go playing around there as haven't got much time.

I just returned from my first Europe trip a couple of weeks ago.
More or less was a similar route you are planning, I went to Amsterdam (full of push bikes 8)
, then to Nurburg, from there to the Black Forest and from there to the Alps, just in the border between Germany, Italy and Swizerland.

In the way out from Nurburg I would suggest to go and see the "Mosel Valley",
I took the the 258->257->259 all the way from Nurburg to Cochem/Sehl and then follow the river (until you get bore of see vineyards

In your route you are also going through Freiburg im Breisgay (Schwarzwald, black forest)
From there I went to the right to that huge lake (which was to tourists for me) and spend 3 days in Oberstdorf, a small "sky" town in the bavarian alps.
Lots of nice roads and is quite close to Davos - Stellio mountain passes, but maybe is to much for you if your route also go through france and spain.

Nurburg was nice but the Autoban are something else

G, I'd be surprised if you don't come across any closed alpine passes at that time of year.

Around Andermatt there are several high quality passes, but as I say, they may well be shut.

You could go further into Italy - to Umbria and Abruzzo, and muck about on the Appenine mountains.

You could even sack off the France/Spain part entirely, and do an anticlockwise route, going further south into Italy, down to Bari, get a ferry to Dubrovnik, back up through Bosnia, Serbia, Croatia, Slovenia, Hungary/Austria, Czech Rep, Germany, Amsterdam.

It would be cheaper, less touristy and probably a bit more interesting.

By the time you got to the Pyrenees the passes will probably be shut too.

Fbyte: Been to Amsterdam a few too many times, so no great desire to go there again. Will have a look at the Model valley, ta.
My plan is to get through the Alps fairly quickly - taking an enjoyable route, but not lingering.

DOG: One of the main reasons for going was to play dirty in Spain .
I saw (think it was) your post regarding Alpine passes in Kitty Kat's post and had a look at the linked site.
I was thinking I'd maybe see how cold it was up the Pyrenees and either stay there, or head further south if I'm finding it a bit chilly. Could always try and get right over to Portugal if I could hack a few hardcore days in the saddle.

I thought it wasn't too bad getting through the south of the Pyrenees at this time- reckon one way or another I should be able to find a traversable route with a fairly competent dirt bike.
I've liked spain when I've been previously, so plan was to revist generally, especially as it's known for it's dirt riding.
