Took my AR out for a ride tonight, got about 1mile down the road, then lost all low end power.

Managed to bump start it after pushing it to 15mph, and holding the revs above 5k

Got home, barrel off, and 1 seriously scored piston and barrel

The thing that really P****S me off, is i spent 85 quid on a rebore and piston kit 1500 miles ago.

Turns out tonight one of the circlips had gave way and fell out, danced al around the piston, eventualy got on top and danced into the head.

Now the cylinder was bored 2mm oversize, Am i right in saying i need this re-sleeved? where can i get this done cheaply? and what shall i do about my "peppered" head?

Cheers all
Tom

£85 is a rip off. When i got my ar125 bored out it cost £30 for the rebore and £25 for the piston kit.

Did you use new circlips? The old ones almost always fall out when you have just spent money on the engine.

You may be able to rebore the barrel again if there is enough meat left on it. As for the head, i would smooth it out with wet and dry and polish it up. If the chips are too bad you will need a new head as it may cause hot spots to form.

Sorry to hear that.

Cheap carp bundled with aftermarket piston kits Evil or Very Mad

Next time order a couple of genuine clips.

I don't suppose you bought the rebore and kit on a credit card? You could quite reasonably claim that the kit they sold you disintergrated.
