I was a good boy today - out there with a jet wash then bucket and sponge ... then out with the polish ... you?

The Honda gets a scrub down by hand once or twice a week depending on the weather and how much I've used it, on the other hand the Suzuki is a filthy little number and gets a rub down maybe every other week, I do practically embalm the thing in FS365 to stop it rusting away though Laughing

I barely get out and when I do I dont have the time to clean it. But noticed earlier it looked like was off roading with a thick layer of mud on it. I must clean Shocked but the weather is crap so it will be another while till I get out and do it again. I hate riding a dirty bike but it happens very often. Last time was about a month ago. And that was the first time I cleaned it as The other half always does it for me. (he uses that as an excuse to get peace in the garage). Confused

Oh he does, I do get out when I want in the evenings . he smokes in the garage and cleans my bike. I cant complain except the last time he was on it it came back like a tractor. Confused he is slacking in his cleaning.

I suggest you either slack in the kitchen or the bedroom then!! ... there is only 2 ways to control a man and get him to do exactly what you want him too ... with his Belly or with his Balls!! Laughing

You know that sunny weekend day when you take your bike out after a hard week's commutin'? Then you get back at 3pm and it's still sunny and you have nothin' better to do? That's when I clean my bike.
Seeing as I live in Aberdeen, that's a rare day.

If I have the time, straight after it has been used. Certainly every time in winter.

I voted 6-14, but if you had asked me last week then the answer would have been about 5 months ago. I am too busy riding it, having fun to wash it.
I had a valid excuse anyway, dodgy suppressor caps, let water in and therefore bike only ran on 3 for a long time. Now I have new suppressor caps I suppose there is no excuse for not washing it more often Sad

If you do a lot of miles, surely that makes it even more minging?!!? Shocked

Personally I am a bit erratic, sometimes I am keen, other times I CBA. If I go out in the salt, I do tend to be pretty good at washing it all off again, if the bike is being used daily at the time, at least once a week. If it not, then straight after a salty run!! Thumbs Up

If it is just wet/mud often I CBA ... then one day it will really irritate me its dirty and I get all soapy on its a55!! Very Happy

The little bike gets washed and polished every time I use it but only because it lives in the house and I don't fancy the long lectures on bringing dirt in. The ones that live outside and in the shed get a hosing down whenever I remember to.

I did a small clean of my last bike about ten months ago. I haven't cleaned the current steed, and have no plans to. The rain does the job.

Pff. I've never properly cleaned either of my bikes: I'll wipe the worst bits off with an oily rag, but bollocks to this cleanliness guff: bikes are loud and filthy machines, and that's how they should be. If I'm not covered in black crap after working on any of the bikes, then I'm not doing it right.

Having said that, I'm going to make use of a mate's power washer soon...

I bought my current Africa Twin in April 2006. It's been washed twice since then, that's about once every 30,000 miles or every 18 months. If I'm honest one of those washes wasn't really necessary.

I've had my bike over three years now, and the most I've done is give it a wipe over with WD40 on a paper towel.

I clean my bikes after every ride ... no exceptions.
However, there are levels of 'cleaning' and also dependent on which bike.

eg:
Off Road Bike:
- gets a jet wash after every ride.
- a soapy scrub and jet wash every 4 rides or so.
- a soapy scrub and a good 'oiling' every other month.
- all of above + a 'toothbrush clean' + an ACF50'ing every year.

Road Bike:
- soapy scrub and a light GT85 after every ride.
- soapy scrub and a thorough 'oiling' every month.
- all of above + a 'toothbrush clean' + an ACF50'ing every 6 months (especially prior to the winter season)
