A couple of guys came to view the bike and all was fine, he bought the bike and was on his way. Now suddenly he says the bike feels 'unsafe and rides like a bin'. I've had the bike for a year and it's been fantastic, and looked after it as well as I possibly could have.

They are the type that would break your legs if I wouldn't accept it back. Obviously a ganster. I had a bad feeling but he paid so...

It's now probably been ragged and f**ked up.

He's coming at 12.30am (30 mins) to bring it back - aparently went to Chester on it from Liverpool where I live even though having a scouce accent (which I don't & am not).

Cancelled my £23 autotrader ad, £27 to relist and my eBay auction £15. He's also obviously written all over the v5.

Angry but scared.

Crying or Very sad

offer to give him some tips on how to ride it properly

it could be its his first bike and doesnt realise its him not the bike

there is a middle way, between rolling over and outright confrontation

however, if he really is a gangster it might be easier to check it over and if its not too fucked, take it back and return the cash

If you ripped him off pay back but if he is being a nob face him down. Couple of mates can help or make sure you are in good view of some CCTV.

I'm not a small guy but I haven't got a small army as he does, nor the hardened street fighting qualifications, so rolling over seems the only option.

I will never sell anything to a druggy twat again.

Thinking about it, what if he had gone through a speed camera, I would get points and fined too Confused

I think it's better to give it back and forget about it than fear my home being bashed up. Also he lives locally.

Going to keep £50 for the ads though, petrol is the tip, if he doesn't like that, I hope the police arn't too busy in the city centre on a friday night.

I know he has NO right for a refund, but words will never hurt you!

Cheers for the coms guys. Will be sure to tell you what happens, even on Orange internet in the hosp!

Ok, I've got the bike back, with the addition of rattles. He's done 70 miles since 9.30PM today.

I've taken £50 to pay for the ads, which is fair enough. I asked him about the speed cameras & he said "You have my address" so I hope thats a negative.

He said the reason he took it back was that his mate races bikes and it had been dropped and is dangerous; again it's been perfect for me.

I will have to get a mechanic to look at it as the sound is coming from the top end Question Will see tomorrow.

He even brought my spare helmet back that I sold him.

Anyway thanks for all peeps & I'm now going to sleep!

If you have your cctv recording keep a copy, even if it has a time and date discrepancy, just to prove the guy had been to your house.

Did he have insurance to ride the bike?

Make sure you keep the bike somewhere different than you would normal store it!

He may get some 'mates' to come back and steal it. So watch your back!

Also sleep with a baseball bat for a few nights.

If he comes back, go Ultimate Warrior on his arse!

Lmao, I'm glad you resurrected that mistake... This time of night the subconscious has more bearing Laughing

It's locked up with a camera on it, and the previous recordings are backed up on my computer - thanks for reminding me skudd.

Top end noise could have been exaggerated but tomorrow will tell.

I sold it because he had the cash in my hand & I thought better!

Bike is in one piece, nothing taken off of it, although a graunch on the hugger ?!

Should`ve let him test ride it before he bought it.

It`s too late now but i would`ve been tempted to tell you to stand your ground and not be intimidated (firm but polite).
It`s easy to give out advice though but not so easy to practice what you preach.

Check your engine numbers. It may not be the same engine it left you with....

That's quick work, is it possible to ride 90 miles and swap an engine in 2 hours ?

You have an innocent mind Smile
A mastermind criminal could have gone round the block to the garage with a team and ropey engine at the ready and put a drill on the speedo sensor whilst engine gets changed..

Still worth checking the numbers, but if the buyer was a bit of a junkie waster type I doubt it Smile

Better luck with the sale next time and hope all is OK with returned machine

I'd be more inclined to think it would be easier to cut a new key for it, and come back for it, rather than swap engines and the like...

I agree check the engine numbers. A team of four could easily swap out an engine in a few hours.

There is nothing wrong with the bike that I sold, I've had it for a year and even taken it to the lake district roads, handles beautifully.

Sold as seen anyway, the buyer agreed to buy regardless of a test ride, even though as I say it's perfect.

The rain has subsided now so I will have a closer look at it. I felt pain when I heard him near red line it up my street at barely 60c water temp. Will tell you my analysis shortly.

Tipexing the v5 is plausible?

Same engine Thumbs Up Laughing
