Got it. No way to treat the reasons for mine, can sometimes be an easy fix though. Depends totally on the individual case.

Best of luck. It sucks, the legs getting weak sucks more.

I to have sciatica, also from the same thing! Doing a full 6 months of riding in Whistler this past winter sorta took its toll.

Do you notice tightness in your calve, knee hurts after sitting for a while, maybe a pain in your thigh to with the odd bit of pain just above your coccyx where your hip meets it? Also is the flex restricted in that leg, say if you lie down and try to raise your legs can you raise the good side higher than the bad side if it starts to feel tighter when its a lot lower than you got the other leg?

The exercise I was given was knee rocks to start with. Depending on which leg it is depens on which way you rock your knees. For me its my left side so i rock my knees to the right.

Basically lie down arms straight palms flat bring your knee up and together and rock them to the opposite side of the affected area towards the floor/bed tryign to make them touch the floor/bed, i did 2 x10 of these twice a day. You should feel it in your hip/lower back area. Paint picture added!

Just to add, I'd pop into the Doc's and get referred to a physio, even an NHS physio is decent enough for sciatica. Also see if you can get prescribed diclofenic, its like ibuprofen but a thousand times stronger def eases up the tightness.

Had it when I was 17, its horrible! I was in the States on holiday with my family @ disneyworld.

I have no idea how it happened. Nothing in particular I think, it was a bad luck thing.

I had to sleep on the floor, just a small pillow.
Take sleeping pills every night, and strong pain killers all the time.
Certainly had to miss all the rides.

The flight home was an absolute bastard definitely the worst bit.

It took 6 months to a year for the main pains to fade and several years after for it to go completely.

I don't envy anyone that has it long term Sad

I would seriously put in a huge effort to take it easy as much as possible. Don't do things that wil aggravate it. Its worth it however much of a grin it might be.

I can vouch for this, Flying back 11hrs from Vancouver was hell, at this point I hadnt been to the docs I was just chewing down anything up to 10 iburpofen tabs a day for the last 2 months I was in canada so I could carry on snowboarding. I thought it was my cartiledge that was screwed. But yeah after being sat down in my seat on the plane for 3 hours I decided to go to the bathroom. My whole leg had locked up, was a pretty embarassing site when I stood up and my leg collapsed under me Embarassed .

I've got it, sometimes the pain is so bad it can bring you to tears. My right foot always feels like it is a phantom foot, feels like it is in a bucket of ice sometimes. To help I stand up straight and swing a leg back and forth, I also use a Tens machine, gives pulsing electric shocks, helps with the pain. I find some types of trousers/ pants just where the waste band sits can trigger it off too. Sounds odd but it must be just on pressure points.

1) when standing for any period of time, stand with your feet hip width apart, make sure your toes are pointing forward in a straight manner and slightly bend your knees (only slightly) dropping you weight into the bottom of your bum keeping your pelvice straight Wink will help you loads,

2) dont bend without leaning onto something to support yourself if you cant drop at the knees again keeping your pelvice straight

3) vicious circle but the more it hurts the less you do, keeping fitter will help the muscles support you

4) go see a GOOD sports injury physio, been seeing mine over 17 years.. longest relationship I have ever had Laughing

hope that helps Mr. Green

I have it too, not the best thing. Mine won't go away, it can be alleviated for a while, but I suffer with it more as a constant. Kind of have to ignore it as best as possible and carry on regardless.
