hi
i bought 4 years old honda cg (my first motobike) 2 weeks ago. first 3 days there were no problems and suddenly it didn't want to work without choke. i cleaned the carburettor, changed the spark plug(it was black), blowed again all nozzles with no effects. the engine stops after a completely closing the choke. it stops as well or lost apower when i accelerate. i now it is probably typical problem , but i'm a beggiiner and i did everything i could do, so thanks for any advice.

check your fuel tap is not blocked first...remove the fuel line to the carb and make sure it flows ok on main and reserve tank.

After that it sounds like the main jet or emmulsion tube are blocked. take the main jet out (big brass one in the middle) and hold it up to the light to see if it's clean. A strand of wire from a wire brush can be used to poke any crud out is it's badly blocked just do it gently so you dont cause any damage to the soft brass. After that the brass tube the main jet screws into can usually be pushed out but not sure which model CG you have or the type of carb it has but once out check the small holes in the side of the tube aint blocked with gunk...again the single strand of wire usually does the trick.

If it still needs choke after that then get back on here and post again......also take some pics of the carb apart might help!!

The positon for choke on and choke off for the cg is different depending upon year. By the way you describe it losing power when accelerating it could be possible you are turning the choke on and not off!

What year is the bike?

could it be rich running as a result of a blocked airfilter, the black spark plug would suggest this... or a blocked air jet if such a thing exists?

It will run like crap with the choke on regardless.

Do you mean it wont idle without the choke or not run AT ALL?

If its not running very well at all check the flow of your fuel tap as previously mentioned.

Carefully remove and clean the idle jet-it is very fine and can easily become blocked.

Check your air filter. If its grubby and dirty replace it (i dont know if its a cleanable type).

A black spark plug generally means either too much fuel or too little air or a mix of either.

may not be exactly like your carby but it will be similar.
