I've just started riding a 50 cc equivalent scooter, for urban commuting. The top box that came with it is flimsy, and too small for a full face helmet, so I'm looking for a replacement.

Looking at replacements, Givi seem a nice middle ground on features and price. The E260 Micro Monolock and the E26 are what I have in mind:

Would you leave your helmet locked in such a top box whilst shopping/having a drink, or are they too easy to break open/remove?
Is there any top box you would leave your helmet in?

Many thanks, Alex

So long as it's lockable, and can be locked to the bike, sure.

I thought that was the whole point of having a top box?

I always leave mine on the helmet hooks under the seat, ahve done so for hours and not had a problem so yeah topbox I'd still do it in...

Although not round here, the little bastards would either steal the visor or piss in the helmet given half a chance, or both...

Hold on, scooters have a stow-away helmet space under the seat don't they ?...

In this case, not enough for a full face helmet.

Cheers all, I found a Givi on this very site.

If they are going to steal anything it will most likely be the scooter, so you wont need the helmet anyway Mr. Green

Yeah, that's what it's for! While you have to accept a professional thief will steal anything, an opportunist will be foxed by both the lock and actually removing the entire box from the bike to break into at home.
