Hello

I cant make up my mind between these 2 bikes for my first bike.I have to travel 100kms per day. I ve been told that the gs500 is a good commuter but is not as fast as the FZR 400.And ive also been told that the FZR 400 has bad touring capabilities.

Which bike should i take.

The FZR is the better bike of the two but if you can get one a Bandit 400 will suite you.

btw the gs500 is 2 cylinders... so its slower Rolling Eyes

FZR will be more fun, GS wil be cheaper to run and maintain plus parts are everywhere as the bike has hardly changed in 20 years.

That said they are dull and boring, I would rather have the FZR.

I decided to take the gs500. I went to view the bike today. Its a 1998 gs500.It looks very plain. There are no stickers at all and no front mud guard.Does this bike need alota work to get it looking as in the pic chris posted.
Is this a good deal.Im getting it for 8000 South african rands.Which works out to roughly 600 pounds. Here is the pic below

That looks very familiar...

The picture that you posted is most definitely the bike I purchased last thursday / friday.

When did you view the bike?
