Been having a debate with my mate about what to get. I want a used RPG for my PS3 and I've narrowed down to Fallout 3 or Elder Scrolls IV GOTY Edition.

I'm leaning towards Elder Scrolls IV GOTY because of it having the expansion packs with it. Whereas Fallout 3 GOTY Edition isn't out for a while.

Peoples views? Any other suggestions?

I've got both, and Fallout 3 is the better game, even though they both use the same engine.
In the Elder Scrolls, the only point of appeal that I've found thus far is that Patrick Stewart voices a character. Unfortunately, that character dies as part of the intro, so there goes that selling point...

I'd say Fallout 3.

I've got them both, and fallout 3 is, in my opinion, a far better game. The updates should be out in the next month or so, with the GOTY edition due for release on the 30/10.

Not only that, but it was my first platinum trophy!

Out of the two, Fallout is the one I'd choose to play a second time.

Hmmm choices. It's a hard one. Seems like Fallout 3 will be the better game but with the impending release of the GOTY edition is now a good time to get it or should I wait?

This problem would be solved if Valkyrie Chronicles was readily available.

Karma has been dished out as appropriate. Thanks people.

I'm told that the expansions for Fallout3 are buggy as hell. It may be worth holding on until the GOTY version is out, then getting an older edition for peanuts.

I've been desperately wishing that they'd re-do the graphics for FFIV and re-release it. That was an epic RPG, and it deserves resurrection on a platform that's worthy of it.

Join Lovefilm, play both. I pay just under a tenner a month to have 4 titles, 2 at any one time, plus bonuses if you keep adding titles to your list.
Sure, it might take a while to get the title you're gagging for, but I got Fable 2 on it's release date. So far I've rented and completed roughly 20 XBox360, 10 Wii and 5 DS games.
If you separate your lists you can control what sort of stuff you'll be getting (I have a DVD list and a Games list, with 1 from each coming to me at a time). You could just as easily make a "Really can't wait" list and a "Meh" list.

Fallout 3 is just one of the best games ever, I have a bobblehead on my desk at work! There was a time I played it so much I actually prayed for nuclear war so I could travel the wastelands pillaging and shooting monsters...too far? It's just that good.

The OP asked about RPG's on the PS3 and you tell him about an RTS then say you don't like Shooting games but like racing games.

What does this have to do with anything! Laughing

Depending on what you class as RPG may bring more games into the loop.

I've put Sacred 2 at the top of my lovefilm list. It's more of a hack and slash type game, more like the Diablo series from the PC.

There are a couple of good looking JRPG's kicking about as well. I played Encharted Arms and Eternal Sonata

Well guys I ended up getting Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion....and it's great. My Mate mentioned about the buggy expansion packs which wiped out over 100 hours of his game play on his 360. So I figured I'd plough on with Oblivion until Fallout 3 GOTY Edition comes out.

Never too far mate, I have often dreamt about being in a game-type scenario myself.

The reason the expansions are not out on the ps3 yet is they are fixing the bugs! It was meant to be out in June but they want to get it right for the ps3!
