What does this mean? Was out on my B1H yesterday, went to start it and this was flashing up and it wouldn't start. Thought it might stand for Fuel Injection, so checked in fuel tank for fuel although I knew I had fuel. Then tried starting it again and it started straight up, thought I'd better check out what it could have been incase it happens again? Thanks

I think its called a fall indicator light so after a if dropped it cuts everything off. Ive got the same on my er6f. it's there to tell you something aint connected right. I'd take the tank off and check all the connecters around the air filter and such.

On my C1 the FI light would come on when the valve in the exhaust pipe wasn't working properly. This wasn't helped by the fact that I'd removed the valve. It didn't affect the starting though, I don't know if the B1 has something similar?

the fact you turned it off and on and it worked usualy means the ecu just got in a twist with itself. like your computer blue-screening. mate had an sv that used to do this occasionaly. had it checked over and there was nothing ever wrong with it.

Thanks mate, I guess it was the turning it on and off that did it not opening the fuel tank. I'll bare this in mind if it happens again

Cheers guys

As already has been said, on my SV, there's a fuse that blows every so often (about three times a year), and that produces said light.

Most dealers can plug something into the bike, and the bike will have a record of what caused it.

My Daytona 600 had a fault code for "Low voltage" from the battery. Laughing

As said it will flash if something's wrong with the system. Mine was flashing for a while but the bike was running perfectly. I eventually found out that the air box sensor had come unplugged, popped it back on and it was fine.

Ok thanks guys, as you say the bike was running spot on, she was flying Laughing

Joys of modern cars and bikes running on electrics I suppose. I'll keep an eye on it.

No exhaust valve on the B1H to worry about.

Most likely a sensor of some sort. If you want to know the fault code it may be worth putting it into the Diagnostic mode, getting the fault code and then seeing what the bike thought was wrong...

How long would the fault stay on there for to be able to be read? And how many millions would I need to pay for somebody to diagnose it?

The SV gives the fault code with a paperclip. You then phone the dealer, who will give you what it means, normally over the phone. Laughing

Daytona 600 kept the code until read, not sure for the SV.

Usually until another fault comes along and overrides it.

And you many not need to pay someone. I don't know how to do it specifically on the B1, but on other bikes you can put it into diagnostic mode by earthing certain wires, or pressing certain buttons.

Maybe worth asking on MCN Ninjas?

Then you just read the fault code it displays and match it up using a key of all possible codes, and it tell you what the bike thinks is wrong.

On many bikes the fault codes are cleared when you turn the ignition off. I think the 636 uses a denso ECU so that's probably the case but you oughta check in case you have to manually clear the codes.
