Shall i go on holiday, with the ex ??

Still not 100% about this one, so I thought I’d post up, see what you have to suggest.

Booked a 2-week holiday to turkey with the misses and her family several months ago, and it was all fully paid middle of June. I paid my £340, and her mother paid a bit for me too. All was well.

4-5 weeks ago I broke up with her, we were together for 3½ years, which being 20 years young is pretty good! The relationship was up and down, we had good times/bad times, as all relationships do. We did though, split up and have several breaks, mainly to do with me not being able to cope with her attitude and lack of respect for everyone and life. Then after these fall outs, we would get back together, as she would promise to change, and I would believe her. 4-5 weeks ago I woke up, and realised that she would never change, and that our relationship was simply going around in circles. So that was that.

My family never really liked her, but they accepted her and tried to get along with her, knowing that we was getting kind of serious over the years. For some reason, all of my family are against me going on this holiday, and I mean all of them. Telling me to not worry about the money and just don’t go, I don’t understand why their all saying this ?

Me and my ex still talk occasionally as mates and its great, we do have a lot in common and we have always got on well with each other as mates. I do miss the good times, but I will never give her another chance, and she knows this.

Now, another minor problem. I’m kind of seeing a new girl, I like her and she likes me, but there is no way I’m getting into another relationship just yet. So we’re not committed to anything, we are just old mates who have recently met and we both like each other. Now, I’m not sure how this would affect her, because she would have to be told – I can’t just disappear for two weeks ! I don’t want this to spoil anything we could have had, because as I’ve said before I will never give my ex another chance.

So all my family thinks I shouldn’t, and some mates think I should, and some mates think I shouldn’t. I spoke to my ex’s mum the other day and she still wants me to go, I get on very well with her dad and well with her nan and grandad.

Soooo, do I go or do I not ?

The choice is mine, yeah, nobody else’s, I just like to see what people think and if anyone has been in a similar situation ?

I would go with the buy her out and get a mate to go, will be much more fun

I can't take another mate because its her and her family going. We have a 6 bedroom appartment to stay in with her family.

I've gone into thomas cook to ask about chaning names or removing me off, but because its been booked for months I can't.

Its either I go, or I don't and I loose the money.

My husband & I seperated just before a family holiday, (him, me, my 3 kids and my mum) I opted to stay at home as I didn't want to spend 2 weeks with him.
If you go away with her and her family you could be giving her totally the wrong idea and upset the new girlfriend into the bargain. I would rather lose the money than spend a holiday with an ex.

I have recently come back from a holiday with my ex and his family. It was the first time we'd seen each other since we split up - we'd kept in touch and remained friends. The split was amicable.

It was awkward to begin with, especially as we were staying with yet more of his family. However, I had a brilliant time and we were able to get along as friends and set the precedence for what I hope will continue to be a great friendship.

If you think you can get along with her family, can avoid shagging her, and can relax then go. The new girl will have to accept that you're going on holiday with another friend for two weeks. If she can't wait around for two weeks while you sun yourself then she's not going to stick around very long... In fact, it sounds like an ideal opportunity for you to have a bit of a break from her and sort out what it is you want. If you miss her, then great if you don't, then you probably aren't ready for another relationship.
