hi i have recently posted about my problem with my bike, and i have come to the conclusion that it is something in the engine.

i was wondering what the compression should be (in psi) for my bike, it is currently kicking out 65 psi.

wondering if anyone could help

and also help me with what the vacum pumps do, like there is a pipe that sucks, under neath the bike, and one that blows into the exhaust.

and also wondering if anyone could suggest any ideas

thanks in advance

I recently rebuilt one of these with a 70cc kit on.
What seems to be the problem?

well it idels fine, but at full revs, well it doesnt go to full revs, there is no power, at all. it stutters, i have tried a new carb, checked the reeds, changed the plug, done everything.

wondering what the hell is going on, and whether psi of 65 is normal???

and also what the vacumn pipes all do

cheers for your reply

Wont achieve full revs? could be a few things, What did your old plug look like?
As for vaccum pipes one sucks via the carb to draw petrol to the carb from your tank, the one on the exhaust it to dilute emissions and doesnt really do much if i'm thinking of the same one.

old plug looked fine, my mate who is highly expierenced said its all fine.

i know about the fuel pump one, and the emission one, but there is a 3rd one, which sucks, enough to suck your balls down it if you werent careful!!!!

im sure your thinking of the same one, cos of the crank come 3 pipes one for the fuel, one for the ehaust and another mystery one!

well i have eliminated that its not reads carb or that area, is something internal

cheers

Did you change the settings on your carb at all? And by fine do you mean it was a nice tan brown plug? Are you not getting confused with the 2 stroke pump pipe? Post up a pic that will clear things up.

If you think its internal, then i'd be tempted to get a top end gasket kit and take the head and barrell off theres only 4 bolts on the head and the air cooled motor is stupidly simple, this will put your mind to rest and if your mate is a mechanic then i'd get him to help you.

well ive oredered a full gasket kit, and yer hes been helping me. i would up a pic, but my bike is at his flat!!!

and the pipe has a air filer in, it is quite a large pipe. i cant find anyone or anything which knows about it. it has to be a standard thing as it has not been added

and im not getting it confused with the fuel pump pipe no, and it was slightly black, but being a 2 stroke!!!!

and nope, standard carb, aint been messed with!!!

do you recon the rings have gone or something?

cheers

Ben, did you miss it when he said it's putting out 65psi of compression?

It needs a top end rebuild.

Could be checking it wrong, take the head an barrell off and look, if its failed order up your new parts and check that the 2 stroke pump is working, it will pump a drop every 2 and half if not 3 secs.

no, the 2 stroke pump, it should pump 2 stroke into the carb its a little metal thing under your floor board on the left hand side.

I dont know what PSI is should be hitting, if when you put your foot down on the kickstart and you cant feel any resistance then its a fail.

It might be getting the voltage but not be pumping, when you rebuild it, i mixed a bit of 2t in the petrol while i pulled the 2t pump pipe off to check the feed line was doing its job propperly, it wasnt thats what caused my seizure so we had to replace it.

If your down on compression its more than likely your rings are seized to the piston and half melted.

I think your in good hands with your mate being a mech or in the know as you put it.

Any problems post up and make sure you 2t all the new bits when you fit them.

Unfortunatly i cant remember where we ordered our kit from sorry.

Google is your friend on this one, also look for what psi compression it should be producing as i'm interested in this.

I'd second knackered rings or piston, my mates sh50 would start and idle ok, but as soon as you tried to give it some throttle it would bog down, turns out there was a whole ring missing, as well as a part of the other!

Kick down on the kick start to feel how much compression there is. Now drop a cap full of 2 stroke oil in through the spark plug hole and do it again. If you can feel a noticeable difference between before and after you need at least new rings.
