I'm with BT & have just been charged over £50 for using 60+GB over my allowed usage. But the problem is i've only downloaded one movie & a couple of MP3s, no more then 3. So what is using all of my usage?

Cheers.

you changed your password on your router recently?

Someone may have hacked your WIFI time to change methinks, oh and upgrade to unlimited.

I had an email to say I had downloaed over 100gb's in one month they just restrict my speed between certain hours.

Same price though Wink

Did you torrent that film? If so, there's a lot of peripheral downloading and uploading involved. I'd also check to make sure that no-one else has been using it.
Do you use youtube or other flash video sites regularly? They can chew through bandwidth quite capably.

Yup, use youtube a lot. I use it as my music player so always listening to music on it. Surely this wouldn't use over 60GB in 3 months tho?

BT are just cvnts plain and simple. i had no end of hassle when i was forced to use them due to moving to the sticks.

They throttle a lot of torrent index sites and sometimes i can't even download the .tor file !
During the school holidays i'm sure they are throttling as well because now i only ever get a decent speed between 1am and 6am.

Grrrrr Evil or Very Mad

To save speculation are you using a Linksys router? If so you can put tomato firmware on it which will give you accurate usage stats.

It not you could use something like NetLimiter 2 Monitor which does a good job of totalling up bandwidth usage by application. You just have to install it on all the machines using your net.

This charging people for over use has been raging in America for the last few months with people being charged for excessive usage when they have no way to prove otherwise. Very unfair and it's lead companies over there to provide live usage data to their customers. Something which i'm sure BT could do and should if they expect to stick bills like this to people. I'd find it difficult to take their word for it after the experiences i have had with BT's cock ups.
