Sometimes it's the simplest things.

Problem... No sparks on the RVF.

I checked...

Coil primary and secondary resistance
Pulse generator resistance
CDI to coil and CDI to pulse generator continuity
HT Leads, re-tapping a pair of them (for luck)
CDI supply rail
Clutch switch
Sidestand switch
Neutral switch
Diode pack

And still no joy.

Then I looked in the fuse box and discovered the 10A fuse for the ignition wasn't there.

Fudgesticks.

Abuse me, I deserve it. Embarassed

I know man, have you seen the cost of replacement Honda OEM fuses? David Silver and the rest of the internet is out of stock, and the slitty-eyed bastards want to charge me £15,225.71p for a new one.

Cash in hand, £5k? Just had an engine rebuild so will last you another 200 yards before blowing up again.

Thumbs Up

I called the RAC out once after I couldn't get my bike (Bandit 600, first bike) started. RAC bloke tried to start it, no joy, checked and tried several things. He loaded it onto the back of the lorry, took me 100 miles home.

Got it home, guess what neither of us had checked. Rolling Eyes

When I first got my bike I went for a ride and after about 5 minutes it stopped and i couldn't get it started again. I tried the kill switch not knowing which was it was meant to go. My brother in law came down to have a look. His dad came down to have a look because he has bikes.

We tried jumping it for ages and still no joy. Then we realised the kill switch was on. So we turned it off and tried again. It still wouldn't start. They started taking the mick saying i had bought a knackered bike and the bloke must be laughing his head off all the way back to yorkshire.

Then we tried to think about what it could be, what would stop the engine starting. Then i remebered he had told me about the fuel tap and if i was leaving the bike for long times i should turn it off. I looked and the bloke i had bought it off had left the tap off. Epic fail on behalf of three of us who couldn't figure a 125 out.
