RS125 powervalve

i was checking over my bike today (raining) and i looked to see where the powervalve was AND THERE WASNT ONE.
i always assumed it had one as i can rev over 8,000 and it reaches just over 90mph
does this mean someone has removed the blanking plate,but no powervalve.

Hi

There should be a solonoid on the r/h frame rail by the battery to operate the power valve. There should be a cable from this to the power valve which is situated just above the exhaust.

To restrict them people sometimes just disconnect the electrics to the solonoid, sometimes they remove the solonoid. The proper way to do it is to remove the power valve from the engine and replace it with a blanking plate.

no i mean i was gonna take out and clean the powervalve when i felt just above the exhaust.there was nothing there i looked and there was a plate over where the powervalve should be.
guess i gotta l00k on good old ebay

Surely its not a bad thing, it just means you've got a constantly open exhaust port, therefore constantly full power Twisted Evil

I'd just live with it, 90mph is fast enough for a 125 Wink

If there is just a plate over where the power valve goes then it is probably restricted with a blanking plate. Surprised it manages to get to 90mph like that. Full power would probably add about 20mph to the indicated top speed.

we all know the rs over reads its probably closer to 85 indicating 90 alothough i have reached 100 on a slight hill

I am still surprised it is that quick. My old Futura would indicate 85mph (on the flat) with the blanking plate in place, but realisitically that was somewhere between 75 and 80.

Maybe someone has cut the blanking plate down a bit.
